Outcome Objectives of the Computer Information Systems Program
Upon completion of this program, it is expected that students will:
- Demonstrate knowledge of computer information systems theory and research and be able to integrate this knowledge in a variety of commercial, business and other settings;
- Demonstrate knowledge of object-oriented database technology, from basic object stores to fully operational systems;
- Understand and be able to analyze the important issues with regard to the societal impact of advanced and emerging computer information technologies;
- Demonstrate the ability to use a variety of computer applications, including telecommunications, word processing, desktop publishing, graphics, spreadsheet and database programs, to process information;
- Be able to use simulation applications to formulate questions and to critically investigate and solve problems; and
- Demonstrate the capability to critically and reflectively engage ethical issues in computer information systems, particularly questions of social responsibility and professional decision-making.
