Admissions to the Education Program
Students desiring to qualify for admission into the education program must meet the Education Program admission criteria that includes:
- Good standing with CCSJ
- Transcript Review
- ¾ of general education coursework completed
- EDU: 200, 300, 311
- Thirty hours of field experience
- Apply for Teacher Candidacy (applications available electronically)
- Interview with member of Education Committee
- Praxis I: Reading, Writing and Math
- Library Tour (part of EDU 200)
- Blackboard training (part of EDU 200)
- Limited Criminal History Clearance (part of EDU 200) – (Note: must be updated annually)
- Resume (part of EDU 200)
- Letter of Acceptance
Continuation in the Education Program
Once formally admitted to the education program, all teacher candidates are expected to enroll in and attend monthly Education Seminars each semester. These seminars address education issues, concerns, and research that is pertinent to educational professionals. The Education Committee reviews the GPA of all teacher candidates at the end of each semester. See the Education Handbook.
