Outcome Objectives for the Social Sciences Program
The Social Science program is designed to prepare the student to:
- Understand the institutions, systems, and cultures of the United States and other countries;
- Understand how historical, economic, psychological, social, and political forces and factors shape human behavior and affect society;
- Derive a basic understanding of the concepts, theories, principles, and laws within these disciplines;
- Acquire a distinct sensitivity about major social problems, both from an urban perspective and with a global vision;
- Critically examine and interpret human behavior and societal phenomena; and
- Develop certain intellectual abilities, including research and communication skills, computer and writing competencies, and problem-solving heuristics.
