TRANSITION TO TEACHING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who should apply for the Transition to Teaching program?
People who currently possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree and are already skilled in their specialty are able to apply for the Transition to Teaching Program, especially teachers with limited licenses and mid-career changers.

Transition to Teaching leads to which certification?
Elementary certification (allows you to teach in first through fifth grade in specified discipline) or secondary certification (allows you to teach in the area of your bachelor's degree in grades six through twelve)

When will classes meet?
Each course will meet three consecutive Saturdays for eight hours.

When do classes begin?
Classes begin in August 2006 and January 2007.

How many credit hours are required?
18 credit hours for secondary certification and 24 credit hours for elementary certification.

There is no distinction made on the teaching certification as to what route a student went to ontain certification. The certification earned by a Transition to Teaching student will be no different and provide the exact same rights and privileges of a certification earned through a traditional program.
