D. ; Richard Vernier, Ph.D. ; Connie Wachala, M.F.A.; Valerie Williams, M. A. The English and Professional Writing Program offers a B. A. in English and Professional Writing with three concentrations (Literature, Journalism, and Creative Writing) and an A. A. in English. The program in English and Professional Writing offers courses designed for and available to all students, as well as for those who wish to major in the discipline. These courses attempt to broaden and deepen the student' s knowledge of the great ideas and writing of the world in all literate ages. They help the students to derive meaning and value in these ideas as expressed by the fine writers of every age. They also provide the students with the resources to analyze and reflect upon the human experience in ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary worlds, and give them the tools to speak with the great minds of the past with application to present problems. In addition, the program in English and Professional Writing is designed to develop correct, precise writing skills. The courses attempt to develop each student' s creative ability to write well in various forms. |
