PARALEGAL STUDIES PROGRAM

B.S. in Paralegal Studies:

The following requirements (10 courses) are required for a major in Paralegal Studies:

  1. Introduction to Paralegal Studies (PAR 100) is a prerequisite for all courses in Paralegal Studies.

  2. Paralegal Studies 200, 201, 210, 300, 310, 340, 350, and 495.

  3. Six elective credit hours from Paralegal Studies are to be taken.

Minor in Paralegal Studies:

The following requirements (5 courses) are required for a minor in Paralegal Studies:

  1. Introduction to Paralegal Studies (PAR 100) is a prerequisite for all courses in Paralegal Studies.

  2. Paralegal Studies 200, 201;

  3. Six elective credit hours from Paralegal Studies are to be taken.

A.S. in Paralegal Studies:

The following requirements (7 courses) are required for an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies:

  1. Introduction to Paralegal Studies (PAR 100) is a prerequisite for all courses in Paralegal Studies.

  2. Paralegal Studies 200, 201;

  3. Twelve elective credit hours from Paralegal Studies are to be taken.

Certificate in Paralegal Studies:

For students with a Bachelor’s degree and computer literate, we offer a “Certificate in Paralegal Studies.” This certificate can be earned by successfully completing a total of seven courses (21 credit hours); three (3) required courses in Paralegal Studies and four (4) elective courses in an area of student interest.

  1. Introduction to Paralegal Studies (PAR 100) is a prerequisite for all courses in Paralegal Studies.

  2. Paralegal Studies 200, 201;

  3. Twelve elective credit hours from Paralegal Studies are to be taken.

Other Requirements:

All Paralegal Studies majors must fulfill the General Education requirements as listed in the General Education Program in this catalog as well as other requirements for the appropriate certificate or degree (see General Education requirements). Paralegal Studies majors must take PAR 200 and 201 prior to taking higher numbered courses in a given course of study unless approved by the Program Director.

Association

We are a member of the American Association for Paralegal Education.

Internship

The student will work in a law-related environment gaining training with an attorney and staff, which will provide exposure to the real working environment of legal assistants/paralegal professionals.
