Walter Skiba earned his M.A. in Theatre from University of Connecticut and M.M. with an emphasis in Musicology from Roosevelt University. Skiba has taught full-time at CCSJ since 1971. As a culture columnist and reporter, Mr. Skiba has contributed hundreds of feature articles to the Northwest Indiana Times on performing arts events in the Chicago and Northwest Indiana area, as well as articles on regional travel, books and people. He currently teaches Introduction to Performing Arts, Introduction to Mass Media, American Cinema, and Speech Communication. He also works with individual students in General Studies and Media and Fine Arts on their integrated senior projects. |

Dr. Stibili earned a B.A. in Philosophy, an M.A. in Modern European History, and a Ph.D. in Modern American History. He has taught and served in administration in various colleges and universities. He has published a variety of articles, book reviews, and books. He is currently researching work on immigrant colonization in Arkansas at the turn of the 20th century. He teaches Great Philosophical Ideas, American Civilization I and II, World Civilization I and II, the Immigrant Experience, and American Urban History.

Father Spilly earned his Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from the University of Chicago. He has taught at St. Joseph College, Catholic Theological Union, and University of St. Mary of the Lake. From 1984-1999 he served as Special Assistant to the Archbishop of Chicago. Among his publications are First Maccabees, Second Maccabees, Vol. 12 of The Collegeville Bible Commentary; Selected Works of Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, 2 vols.; and The Journey to Peace: Reflections on Faith, Embracing Suffering, and Finding New Life, ed. with Jeremy Langford. He teaches Introductions to Old and New Testaments and Social Justice. |

Kirk Robinson

Kirk Robinson received his MFA in creative writing from The Ohio State University in 1998 and his B.A. from Webster University in 1993. He taught for seven years at the University of Illinois at Chicago and served as an assistant director of their First Year Writing Program. His poems have been published in several nationally distributed literary magazines, including Poetry Northwest, The American Literary Review, Third Coast, and The Virginia Quarterly Review. His poem "The Design of To-Morrow" has been selected and republished by Poetry Daily and his poem "A Motif" has been selected by Educational Testing Services for use on the reading comprehension section of their standardized tests. He teaches Rhetoric and Composition, 20th Century Poetry, Creative Writing, and a variety of liberal arts courses. |

Ginger Rodriguez received her MLA from the University of Chicago and is completing her Ph.D. at Union Institute and University. Her research focuses on the ethical interpretations of literary, philosophical, religious, and historical texts in the Western liberal arts tradition. Mrs. Rodriguez has research interests in the Western canon, feminist interpretations of literature, ecocriticsm, and American literature. She teaches Rhetoric and Composition, Global Perspectives, and a variety of liberal arts courses.

Dr. Finnegan obtained his B.A. in philosophy and history and an M.B.A in marketing from Loyola University Chicago. He also has a B.A. in Biblical Philology, an M.A. in theology from Louvain University, Belgium, and a STD in theology from the Liturgical Institute of the University of Trier in Germany. His publications include What Is Fair? The Foundations of Social Justice for the Twenty-First Century and What Do We Believe? An Introduction to the Study of Religion and Theology, both from Linus Publishing. He is currently at work on Confirmation at an Impasse: The Historical Origins of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Dr. Finnegan teaches Social Justice and his Faculty Advisor to the Learning Community Coordinator.

Joan Crist, Ph. D

Dr. Crist earned her B.A. in Classics from St. John's College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from the University of Notre Dame. She currently serves as Coordinator of Ecumenism and Interreligious Affairs for the Catholic Diocese of Gary, organizing ecumenical events around the region and building a sustainable network of regional faith communities. As a member of the Revitalization First Collaborative, Dr. Crist advocates for public policies that will put an end to suburban sprawl and encourage urban investment in the region, and she works on similar problems of land use, waste, transportation, and impacts of climate change in Indonesia. She is currently at work a series of articles that reinterpret St. Bonaventure's Conferences on the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit for a contemporary Western audience. Dr. Crist currently teaches Philosophy, Social Justice, and Intro to Religious Studies. |

Dr. Krall-Lanoue earned her M.A. in English (British Literature) from Illinois State University and her Ph.D. in English (Composition and Rhetoric) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Dr. Krall-Lanoue heads CCSJ’s Developmental Writing Program. She has teaching and research interests in basic writing, writing pedagogy, writing program administration, critical literacies, working-class studies and theories of language and difference. |

Chris Buczinsky, Ph.D.

Chris Buczinsky earned his Ph.D. in English from Northwestern University. A children’s poet, illustrator, and performer, Dr. Buczinsky wrote, illustrated, and self-published Pied Poetry, a collection of poems and pictures for children. As a co-founder of A Child’s Voice, he has performed and taught poetry and illustrator workshops to elementary students throughout the Chicagoland area. He has been assistant editor of The Wholesaler and The Plumbing and Heating Contractor News, two national trade magazines as well as a columnist for The Arlington Post in Arlington Heights, Illinois. He teaches American Literature, 20th Century Poetry, Literary Criticism and Theory. He is currently at work on a variety of children’s picture and poetry books. Betty Delinck

The college’s Artist-in-Residence, Mrs. Delinck earned her M.A. in Art from Governor’s State University in Illinois. Working mostly in oils and watercolors in a realistic manner, Delinck’s creative work focuses on the mystery and wonder of God’s creation. Inspired by Rembrandt and Carravaggio, Delinck’s paintings pay close attention to value. Delinck volunteers at 119th Street Gallery in Whiting, Indiana and has won numerous awards for her paintings, including Tri Kappa, Best of Show; Lake County Fair, Best of Show; 119th Street Gallery, President’s Award; Illiana Artists, 2nd Place; Hammond Seniors’ Show, 1st Place. She has also exhibited at the University Club, Chicago; South Shore Arts, Munster; Chesterton Art Center, Chesterton; and Voght Art Center, Tinley Park. Delinck teaches a variety of studio art classes, including Introduction to Design, Careers in Fine Arts, Watercolor Techniques, and Drawing.

Martin Martinez

Mr. Martinez received his B.A. in Art from Calumet College of St. Joseph’s and an M.A. from Governors State University. He is presently Curator of the college’s Bernard Gallery. Mr. Martinez’s abstract black and white photography has been in exhibited in numerous juried exhibits and several solo exhibits, including “London” (black and white images of London), “Images,” a collection of photographs by Jaime Martinez taken several months before he passed away and portraits of friends who helped him after his brother’s death. He has won several awards in juried art exhibits, including the South Shore Arts Salon. His work was shown at the 10th Annual College University Exhibit at South Shore Arts as well. Currently Mr. Martinez is working on a series for It’s Nice But It Doesn’t Go With My Sofa, an invite-only exhibit at South Shore Arts in June 2010. Mr. Martinez is presently a member of the Board of Trustees and the exhibit committee at South Shore Arts in Munster, Indiana. |
