Course description: Teacher candidates will examine major
theories and findings concerning human development from birth through the
elementary years and the implications of these for the professional educator. Topics include physical development,
intelligence, perception, language, socio-emotional development, gender roll
development, oral development, early experience, and developmental issues
relating to education. Field Experience
Required.
Prerequisites: EDU 100, 200, and 300

Class Policy on Attendance and Assignments:
Because this is a fast pace
class, all students must attend all classes.
No class can be made up and tests can not be given at a later time. If a student fails to take either the mid
term or final exam, an automatic final class grade of “F” will be given. A class participation grade will be given
for in class discussions and blackboard
assignments.
Center for Academic Excellence:
Tutoring assignments is free
to all students of Calumet College of St. Joseph. Call the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) to make an
appointment at 473-4287. The Center has
experienced and well-trained tutors in most subject areas to help students who
are struggling in a course or who are doing well and would like to do
better. Regular weekly tutoring
sessions are likely to improve your grade.
Statement of Plagiarism:
If an instructor or other
Calumet College of St. Joseph personnel find that a student has plagiarized or
been involved in another form of academic dishonesty, the instructor or other
personnel may elect to bring the matter up for judicial review. The maximum penalty for nay form of academic
dishonesty is dismissal from the College.
