practicing law and working for the
Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Employed as a nurse in various fields for 12
years.
Course
Description: This course will cover the following issues:
employment law, licensing and credentialing of staff, medical malpractice,
advanced directives, corporate compliance, and current issues and trends in
health care law.

Write
a 5 page paper APA style on one of the two following topics
Impaired
Physicians, recommendations for treatment, discipline, rehabilitation etc.
Pick
one state and find what legal requirements that state has for dealing with
impaired MD’s, collaborate with fellow students to ensure that everyone has
picked a different state.
Or
Nationwide
standards for licensure and
credentialing. This paper would be a policy argument for or against national
standards in licensure and credentialing. This would be e persuasive paper, not
an expository paper.
Assignment
2 due Week 5
Write
a 5 page paper relating the ADA to impaired workers. Discuss identification of those impaired, the legal responsibility
to the public and to the worker , and discuss appropriate methods of dealing
with this worker
Or
The
impact of medical malpractice on the health care industry. This could be either
a research paper or persuasive( pro v. con).

Policy on Attendance: It is a serious matter when a student
misses even one session due to the accelerated format of the program. If the student misses more than one session,
the student is required to withdraw form the module by contacting the Academic
Advisor and their instructor.
