Course Description:
This is an introductory course in research methods. The emphasis will be on the understanding of research process and
how to design and evaluate research projects. Topics include research design,
conceptualization and measurement, literature reviews, sampling experiments,
survey research, questionnaire development, and data analysis. Particular
emphasis is placed on survey research. The goal of this course is to provide
students with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their own
research projects as well as apply this knowledge to real life situations. A
research proposal is required. We will
endeavor to go through the basic steps of research. You will have assignments due for each step. There are due dates
for each step. I will then provide feedback to you. The final proposal is due
the last day of class.

As you know, this is an accelerated class. Thus, we
will be covering a lot of material in a short period of time. You will spend hours reading from your
textbooks as well as working on assignments.

Policy on Attendance: It is a serious matter when a student
misses even one session due to the accelerated format of the program. If the student misses more than one session,
the student is required to withdraw form the module by contacting the Academic
Advisor and their instructor

Participation: Class Participation: Is vital to the learning
process. Students will be prepared to
discuss the assigned material. Class
participation may affect the student’s final grade.
