Statement of Plagiarism:
If
an instructor or other Calumet College of St. Joseph personnel find that a
student has plagiarized or been involved in another form of academic
dishonesty, the instructor or other personnel may elect to bring the matter up

Withdrawal from Classes
Policy:
Please
refer to the Degree Completion Program portion of the Student Handbook for
withdrawal policy. All withdrawals are
completed through your academic advisor.
Class Policy for Assignments: Students will be given
ample time to work on their assignments.
All assignments are to be turned in at the beginning of the class period
they are due. LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE
PENALIZED.
Class Policy on
Attendance: Students are expected to
attend all class sessions. If a student
must miss a class session, they are expected to contact the instructor prior to
the class session. If a student misses
more four hours of a course, they will be administratively withdrawn from that
class.
Class Policy on Tardiness:
Students need to
be prepared for class at 6:00 p.m. and are expected to remain for the
duration. Tardiness and early releases
impair learning and distracts other students as well as the instructor. Situations that require an early release or
tardiness should be discussed with the instructor prior to class. Unusual circumstances may be discussed with
the Program Director.
Class Policy on
Electronic Devices:
Due to the
disruptive nature of cell phones, pagers, and other electronic equipment, it is requested that these devices be
deactivated during class sessions. If
the student is “on-call”, please communicate this in advance to the instructor
so that an exception may be made.
Student Competencies:
1.
Students will be able to take previous course material and integrate
the management concepts to the healthcare industry.
2.
Students will use critical thinking skills to analyze and evaluate case
studies. Students will make
recommendations and determine plans of action.
3.
Students will use verbal communication skills to discuss case studies
in class. They will need to support
their point of view.
4.
Students will research a case study as a major written project. The students will take on a leadership role
by making judgements on the course of action for each particular alternative.
Student Outcomes:
1. By the case study method, students
will;

Apply healthcare leadership skills to realistic situations

Understand complex financial information and use it in healthcare
decision making

Utilize human resource management principles in their case studies
·
Research and investigate relevant factors in their cases
·
Apply organizational development theories to case studies
·
Demonstrate the capability to critically and reflectively engage
ethical issues in the healthcare cases, particularly questions of social
responsibility and professional decision-making.
2.
Students will use the situational analysis model on healthcare cases;
including SWOT, healthcare economic impact, budgeting issues, ethical and legal
concerns.
Assessment: Rubrics will be made available on the first night of
class.

Students will adhere to the American Psychological Association Guidelines (APA) style for all papers.
