FIRST TIME STUDENTS: CLASS/PACE PROGRAM

The CLASS-PACE Program is designed for students who are admitted to the College conditionally. Conditional admission is a possibility for first-time students who failed to attain at least a 2.0/4.0 grade point average in high school.

Referral to the CLASS/PACE Program requires that you visit on-campus with a CCSJ Admission Counselor to learn more about the program. On the day of your visit, you will also be asked to take the COMPASS assessment (covering English and Math) and to write a one page essay. Your admission to the College will then be conditional upon your participation in the CLASS-PACE Program.

CLASS (Cooperative Learning and Student Success) is a pre-college program that features:

  • Time management
  • Test-taking strategies
  • Note taking skills
  • Active listening/reading
  • Personal financial management for college

PACE (Personal Academic and Career Excellence) is a first-year program that serves to build on the concepts introduced during the CLASS Program sessions. PACE includes:

  • One-one-one peer tutoring
  • Group study sessions
  • Learning strategies seminars
  • Social and cultural activities
  • Self-improvement workshops
