Commencement 2013 - (Watch On-Demand Video)


Baccalaureate Mass

Saturday May 18, 2013 - 10 a.m.
St. John the Baptist Church
1849 Lincoln, Whiting, IN.


Although all graduates and their families and friends are invited and encouraged to attend the celebration of the Catholic Mass prior to the graduation ceremony itself, attendance is optional. 


9:30 a.m. -  Families should go directly to the church and graduates should report directly across the street to St. John the Baptist School.  Academic gowns, and mortarboard should be worn during the Baccalaureate Mass.

9:45 a.m. - A procession will be formed from the school and moved to the Church.
Marshals will direct you to your seat.

10:00 a.m. - Mass will begin.  All participants are encouraged to participate in the responses and to sing the hymns. Following the Mass, Marshals will lead the graduation party out of the Church.

 

Commencement Exercises

12:00 p.m.

10:45 a.m.
- Graduates report to the registration tables on the second (2nd floor) across from the elevators to register and receive procedures.  You will receive further instructions while seated in Room 200.

IMPORTANT – Graduates are expected to arrive promptly at 10:45 a.m. with cap and gown. College staff will be available to assist you with the proper wearing of the academic gown and mortarboard.

12:00 p.m. - The commencement ceremony begins in the Rittenmeyer Athletic Center.  Balloons are not allowed since they tend to obstruct the view of family members, as well as other graduates.   Flowers and other gifts should not be given to graduates until the ENTIRE ceremony is complete.

Accessibility Assistance
CCSJ Commencement organizers provide a number of services for guests who need a helping hand. We strive to meet all needs, and we urge you to let us know if you or a member of your party requires help on Commencement day. We also ask your patience. We have many people attending the ceremony, it can take a little extra time and effort to make sure that guests in wheelchairs and with limited mobility enjoy the day and are comfortable.

 

Guests in Wheelchairs: Prior Arrangements Required Due to Limited Seating

  • Seating arrangements are available for guests in wheelchairs, but reservations must be made in advance. Contact Disability Services at (219) 473-4349 or zhall2@ccsj.edu.

  • Handicap Parking for guests is available in the rear of the building.

  • Ushers will escort the disabled party and one guest to their seats.

  • Wheelchair person(s) must use personal wheelchair. 

Photographs

  • A photographer from GradImages will photograph each graduate as he or she crosses the stage to receive their diploma.  You are not obligated to purchase these pictures.  All photos can be viewed and ordered on line at www.gradimages.com.  A confidential photo proof will be emailed to you with viewing and purchasing instructions.   • On the spot photos will be taken by Photoman Studios for graduates, family and friends in the lobby of the 2nd floor from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm and in the Rittenmeyer Athletic Center from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.  The package available is: 

One (1) 6 x 8, eight (8) 3 ½ x 5 wallet size - $20.00
 

We understand that your loved ones will want to take pictures of you receiving your diploma.  We encourage this; however, family members and friends will not be allowed to approach the stage.
