Competitive Dance Hosts Event
4/16/10 - On April 16th, 2010, the Crimson Wave Dance Team of Calumet College of St. Joseph hosted an Autism Awareness event to support April being Autism Awareness Month. The night consisted of a latin aerobics class, dance performances by Crimson Wave Dance Team, Donna Brum Dancers and South Shore Dance Alliance, and raffle drawings. Raffle donors included Cole & Young Jewlers, Dr. Jeff Bona, DDS, MTM Lawn and Maintance, Hometown Appliances and Electronics, Area Glass Inc., SemperFit Inc., Kilroy's Restaurant and Pub, Mary Kay, Arbonne, and Donna Brum Dancers.
The event raised money towards Autism Speaks, a not for profit organization that is dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism. They also raise public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society and bring hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder. The evening was a success with over 80 people in attendance and topping the original fundraising goal of $1,000 by bringing in over $1,800! If you are still interested in donating, please contact coach Wisowaty or visit http://www.walknowforautismspeaks.org/chicago/crimsonwave.
