Men Take 4th at Ashford

10/18/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team took 4th at the Ashford University Fall Invitational in East Moline, IL.

Nick Stasil led the way for the Crimson Wave finishing 17th overall with a 237 three round total.  Zac Henderson finished just two places behind in 19th with a 239 three round total.  T.J. Konvalinka took a 31st place finish carding a 246 three round total with Tyler Nicol finishing 35th with a 247 and Anthony Rubino in 38th.

This was the last fall competition for the Crimson Wave men golfers.  The men will pick back up where they left off mid spring. 

Golf Finishes 2nd at ONU        
      

10/1/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 2nd today at the Olivet Nazarene University Fall Classic in Bourbonnais, IL.

The Crimson Wave finished with a two day total of 635, finishing day one with 321 and day two with 314.  Zac Henderson finished 6th overall with a 154.  Nick Stasil finished with a 160 while teammates Tyler Nicol and Anthony Rubino carded a 164 and 168.  T.J. Konvalinka rounded out the men with a 159.

The Crimson Wave will travel to the Ashford University Invitational on October 17th and 18th. 

Men’s Golf Finishes 7th at Blackthorn

9/25/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 7th overall at the Battle at Blackthorn hosted by Bethel College in South Bend, IN.

The Crimson Wave were led by Zac Henderson’s 4th place finish.  Henderson finished with a two day total of 145.  T.J. Konvalinka followed in 20th place with a 153, while Nick Stasil finished 34th just four strokes behind with a 157.  Anthony Rubino and Tyler Nicol both finished 60th for the men.

The Crimson Wave men’s golf team will travel to the Olivet Nazarene University Fall Invitational on Friday September 30th and Saturday October 1st.

Men’s Golf Finishes 3rd

9/13/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 3rd today the University of St. Francis Fall Classic at Wedgewood.

The Crimson Wave were led by a 3rd place finish from Nick Stasil who was one under par with a 71.  Zac Henderson was right on his heels with a 73 in 6th place.  Tyler Nicol and Anthony Rubino were 37th and 43rd with a 79 and 80.  T.J. Konvalinka rounded out the men with an 83 in 64th place. 

The Crimson Wave men will travel to the Battle at Blackthorn on September 23 in South Bend, IN.

Men’s Golf Places 4th in Crimson Wave Invite

9/7/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team held their inaugural Crimson Wave Invite today at Lost Marsh Golf Course in Hammond, IN.   The invite hosted 9 teams and 50 golfers total.

The Crimson Wave men finished the invite 4th overall as a team with Nick Stasil leading the way shooting an 80 in a 7th place tie.  Zac Henderson finished his day in a 10th place tie with Tyler Nicol, both shooting an 82.  Anthony Rubino was 18th overall with an 85 and T.J. Konvalinka was 38th with a 94. 

The Crimson Wave men will travel to the University of St. Francis on Tuesday September 13th. 

Henderson Finishes 2nd at USF

8/30/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 5th overall at the University of St. Francis Cougar Invitational today with Zac Henderson leading the way with a 2nd place finish.

Henderson shot a 145 two day total to come within two strokes of the win.  Tyler Nicol followed Henderson in 17th place with Nick Stasil and T.J. Konvalinka finishing 36th and 39th.  The Crimson Wave were rounded out by a 48th place finish from Ben Davis.

The men will host their inaugural Crimson Wave Fall Invitational on Wednesday September 7th at Lost Marsh Golf Course.  Tee off will be at 1:00 pm.   

Henderson Signs with Crimson Wave

7/25/11 - Calumet College of St. Joseph men’s golf Zac Hendersoncoach George Topoll has announced the signing of Zac Henderson from Northridge High School to a national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers with the Crimson Wave under Coach Topoll.

During his tenure at CCSJ Henderson plans to study marketing.   Henderson who is transferring from Ball State University will play for the Crimson Wave for his junior and senior season.  Henderson was a sectional champion while at Northridge High School finishing in the top 20 in the IHSAA state finals. 

“The short game is huge at this level.  The competition in college is a familiar challenge for Zac.  He has experienced success more so than some of the competition in the national summer tours he has played”  said Coach Topoll. 

Rubino Signs with Crimson Wave

7/20/11 - Calumet College of St. Joseph men’s golf coach George Topoll has announced the signing of Anthony Rubino from Munster High School to a national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers with the Crimson Wave under Coach Topoll.

Rubino will study business management during his tenure at CCSJ.  While at Munster High School Rubino was named team MVP during his Junior and Senior seasons along with being named first team all conference.  Rubino also helped Munster to the 2011 IHSAA Sectional Championship. 

“Rubino emerged as a key leader on his Munster High golf team as he led by example. I learned by speaking with him and his father that Rubino's competitive demeanor was influenced and fueled on the ice. Rubino is a two-time state champion as a member of Munster's club hockey team.” Coach Topoll went on to say “Since Rubino tasted the glory of playing at the pinnacle of one of his sports; it's only natural that the desire to improve and excel in intercollegiate golf is a motivating force. I am pleased to have Rubino choose the Crimson Wave.”

Davis and Mendez Compete in PGA Minority

5/8/11 - Crimson Wave men’s golfers Ben Davis and Jacob Mendez have competed in the PGA Minority Championships in Port St. Lucie Florida at the PGA Golf Club. 

The opening round of the tournament was plagued by high winds not allowing the two CCSJ golfers to drive the ball to their potential sliding them into the 16th spot for Mendez and the 23rd spot for Davis. 

On day two the men started their climb upward as they both improved their scores with Mendez moving up to the 9th spot shooting a 74 on the day and Davis improving his score from 90 to 87. 

On the final day of competition Davis moved his score to an 80 grabbing 23rd in the final results.  Mendez took a 77 ending his competition in 10th place.

This was the first PGA Minority Championship for Mendez and the second in a row for Davis as the two look forward in their golfing careers. 

Men’s Golf Finishes 8th at Bethel

4/15/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 8th overall at the Bethel College Invitational today in South Bend, IN.

Nick Stasil led the Crimson Wave shooting a 79 tied at 7th.  Jacob Mendez and Steve Rankin were tied at 40th shooting an 86.  T.J. Konvalinka finished 45th with an 87. 

Men’s Golf Takes 5th at USF

4/12/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team took 5th today at the University of St. Francis Invitational.

Nick Stasil finished tied for third overall shooting a 72.  Jacob Mendez finished with a 76 in 12th place.  Ben Davis shot an 81 tied for 40th, Steve Rankin was 54th and Frankie Martisovic was 58th.

The Crimson Wave golf team will be back in action on April 15th and 16th at the Bethel College Spring Classic. 

Men’s Golf Finishes 7th at Taylor          
    

4/5/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 7th overall at the Taylor University Invitational today. 

Nick Stasil finished tied for 11th shooting a two day total of 157.  Jacob Mendez was right behind finishing tied in 21st with a 162.  Ben Davis finished 30th overall shooting 167.  Steve Rankin was 40th with a 173 and Steve Rankin had a day one score of 88.

The Crimson Wave golf team will travel to the University of St. Francis Invitational on April 12th. 

Men’s Golf Competes at IWU

4/2/11 - The Crimson Wave men’s golf team competed at the Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational this weekend in Marion, IN.  The Crimson Wave finished 5th as a team.

  Nick Stasil and Jacob Mendez led the way for the Crimson Wave shooting a 161 each as a two day total.   T.J. Konvalinka was right on their heels with a 164 while teammates Steve Rankin and Ben Davis shot a 178 and 180. 

The Crimson Wave golf team will be back in action on April 4th and 5th at the Taylor Invitational. 

Men’s Golf Finishes 5th at Benedictine

10/4/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 5th at the Illinois Collegiate Championship today. 

Nick Stasil and T.J. Konvalinka both shot a 154, Jacob Mendez shot a 161, Anthony Johnson shot a 163, and Steve Rankin shot a 168.

Men’s Golf Finishes 8th at Bethel

9/18/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 8th of 14 teams today at the Bethel College Invitational.

Nick Stasil led the men shooting a 68 and 75 for a 143 two day total placing tied at 4th overall.  T.J. Konvalinka shot a 152 with Jacob Mendez not far behind with a 155.    Steve Rankin came in one stroke behind Mendez at 156 and Anthony Johnson at 160. 

The Crimson Wave men will compete at the Trine Invitational on October 1st. 

Men’s Golf Finishes 4th at St. Francis

9/14/10 - The Crimson Wave men’s golf shot their lowest score in team history today at the St. Francis Invitational. The Crimson Wave men shot a 297 finishing 4th overall.

Nick Stasil led the men with a 70 while Anthony Johnson and T.J. Konvalinka shot a 74 and 75.  Steve Rankin shot a 78 and Jacob Mendez shot an 83.

Crimson Wave Win Saint Joseph's College Invite

9/13/10 - The Crimson Wave men's golf team won the Saint Joseph's College Invite today at Lost Marsh Golf Course. 

The Crimson Wave men shot a two day total of 647.  Nick Stasil finished first overall being named the invite mvp.  Stasil shot a 79 on day one and 71 on day two for a 150 total. 

T.J. Konvalinka finished tied in 5th with a 161 while Jacob Mendez finished tied in 7th with a 163.  Frank Martisovic shot a 177 tied in 17th and Steve Rankin a 179 in 21st.

Men’s Golf Beats Rochester

8/29/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team beat Rochester College this weekend 637 to 643.

The Crimson Wave were led by Nick Stasil’s 154, with T.J. Konvalinka right behind shooting a 158.  Ben Davis and Frankie Martisovic helped the team along with a 163 and 166 respectively.  Rounding out the men Anthony Johnson shot a 174 for the men’s final 637. 

The Crimson Wave men will travel to Zion, IL on Thursday September 9th and Friday September 10th  to take on Robert Morris University. 

Davis Finishes 22nd at PGA Minority Championships

5/9/10 – Crimson Wave men’s golfer Ben Davis finished his third and final day of the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship in 22nd place.  Davis shot a 77 in the first day of action putting him in 5th place overall.  In day two Davis fell a few strokes back shooting an 88 putting him back to 26th.  On day three Davis returned to his original form shooting a 78 and jumping a few spots to 22nd.  Davis shot a 243 for his three day total.

The 54-hole tournament was played Mar. 7-9. The tournament included 22 NCAA Division one and two teams along with Davis the only NAIA player.

Davis finished his freshman season with the Crimson Wave after competing in 11 tournaments. Davis finished 16th overall in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Davis Only NAIA Participant in the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship

5/7/10 – Crimson Wave freshman men’s golfer Ben Davis is among 34 players chosen to play in the upcoming PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Collegiate Championship at the PGA Golf Club.  The 54-hole tournament will be played Mar. 7-9.  The tournament includes 22 NCAA Division one and two teams along with Davis the only NAIA player.

Davis finished his freshman season with the Crimson Wave after competing in 11 tournaments.  Davis finished 16th overall in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.  “I am really looking forward to the event.  I need to concentrate on my game and enjoy the event.  There should be a lot of good golf at the tournament.”  Said Davis on the tournament

Men’s Golf Finishes 3rd in the CCAC

4/27/10 – The  Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished in a 3rd place tie with Robert Morris College at the CCAC Golf Championships today.  The men finished day one with a 314 and day two with a 329 for a total of 643.

The men were led by Anthony Johnson who finished 6th overall and was named to the CCAC All-Conference team.  Johnson shot a 77 and 78 for a 155 total.  T.J. Konvalinka was right behind with a 78 and 83 (161 total).  Ben Davis finished one shot behind Konvalinka with a 162 (78 day one and 84 day two).  Steve Rankin finished with a 165 and Gary Ison finished with a 169.

This is the first All-Conference golfer for the men’s golf team at Calumet College of St. Joseph. 

Men’s Golf Compete at Bethel

4/17/10 - The Crimson Wave men’s golf team competed at the Sodexho Soring Invitational today hosted by Bethel College.  The men finished 8th overall as a team.

Anthony Johnson finished 34th overall shooting a 170 total while Steve Rankin was right on his heels finishing 35th.  Rankin shot a total of 171.  Ben Davis tied at 37th (173 total) with T.J. Konvalinka and Gary Ison tied at 45th (181 total).

The men will compete at NAIA Regional Championships on Monday April 26th at Heritage Bluffs Golf Course starting at 9:00 am.

Men Finish 13th at USF Spring Invite

4/13/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 13th at the University of St. Francis Spring Invite.  The men were led by Ben Davis who shot an 82 on the day.  Teammates T.J. Konvalinka, Anthony Johnson, and Steve Rankin stayed right on his heels shooting an 83, 84 and 85.  Gary Ison finished his day with a 91 for the men.  The men scored a 334 as a team.

The men’s next event will come on Friday April 16th when the men compete at the Bethel Big Time Challenge.  The event will be held at Blackthorn Golf Course starting at 12:00 pm.   

Men Finish 6th at St. Francis Invite

4/10/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 6th overall at the University of St. Francis Invitational this weekend.   T.J. Konvalinka finished 3rd overall shooting an 80 on day one and a 77 on day two.    Anthony Johnson finished with an 82 and a 79 while Steve Rankin shot a 91 and 86.  Ben Davis finished his two days with a 92 and 83 to round out the group.

The men will compete in the CCAC Tournament on Tuesday April 13th at Wedgewood GC hosted by the University of St. Francis. 

Konvalinka Named All-Tournament; Men Finish 4th

3/29/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s golf team finished 4th overall at the Thrill at the Hill Invitational in French Lick, IN hosted by Indiana Tech.    T.J. Konvalinka was named to the All-Tournament team after shooting an 80 on day one and a 78 on day two for a 158 total.
Ben Davis finished the tournament with a 167 two day total and Anthony Johnson finished his two days with a 170.

The men will compete at the University of St. Francis Invitational at Noble Hawk GC on April 9th and 10th starting each day at 9:00 am. 

Men Take 4th at Island Hills

10/13/09 - The Crimson Wave men's golf team finished 4th overall at the Island Hills Invitational today at Glen Oaks College in Centerville, MI. Anthony Johnson finished 2nd overall shooting a 77 each day for a 144 total. T.J. Komvalinka shot an 81 today while Gary Ison shot a 84 and Ben Davis shot an 85.

Men Take 9th at Ken Venturi

10/2/09 - The Crimson Wave men's golf team competed at the Ken Venturi Invitational at Trine University this weekend finishing 9th. The windy and wet conditions made the already tough course even more of a challenge.

The Ryder Cup Style format paired up T.J. Konvalinka and Anthony Johnson who scored a 74. Ben Davis and Gary Ison also finished the day with 74.

The Crimson Wave will travel to Centerville, MI for the Island Hills Invitational October 12-13 for their next event.

Men Finish 14th at Pilot Invitational

9/26/09 - The Crimson Wave men's golf team finished 14th overall at the Bethel College Pilot Invitational. Anthony Johnson and T.J. Konvalinka finished tied at 53rd shooting a 163 for the two rounds. Ben Davis shot a 172 finishing 67th overall, while Gary Ison finished 72nd and Jude Keelan 79th.

Men Finish 12th at St. Francis

9/15/09 - The Crimson Wave men's golf team finished 12th overall at the St. Francis Fall Classic held at Wedgewood Golf Course in Plainfield, IL. The men fisnished with a program best 316 strokes.

The men were led by Ryan Alberson's 73 followed by an 80 from Gary Ison, an 81 by Anthony Johsnon, T.J. Komvalinka's 82 and an 85 from Ben Davis.
