2009 Volleyball Team

McFarlane Named All-Conference

11/20/09 - Crimson Wave freshman volleyball player Kelsey McFarlane was named CCAC All-Conference second team.

McFarlane ended the season with 275 kills and 26 aces. McFarlane also had 260 digs with a .125 attack percentage.

Tough Loss at St. Francis

10/29/09 - The Crimson Wave volleyball took a tough loss tonight to the conference's number two team the University of St. Francis, three games to zero. Ashley Kieltyka led the ladies with 7 kills on the night. The Crimson Wave will travel to Grace College on Saturday October 31st for a 1:00 pm match.

Crimson Wave Invite Day 2 Recap

10/24/09 – The University of Northwestern Ohio walked away with a 4-0 record and a championship trophy at the 3rd annual Crimson Wave Invite today.

Day two of the invite saw William Penn defeat Calumet College of St. Joseph in three games with the Northwestern Ohio defeating Grace College in the final round of pool (A) play.   Pool B’s final round ended with Mount Mercy College defeating Cardinal Stritch University in five games with Goshen defeating Bethel College in four games.
The Crossover round featured Pool A winner Northwestern Ohio sweeping Pool B winner Goshen College in three games.  William Penn defeated Bethel College in four games, while Grace College defeated Mount Mercy and Cardinal Stritch defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph in three games each.    For complete results and All-Invite Team please Click Here

Crimson Wave Invite Day One Recap

10/23/09 - The 3rd annual Crimson Wave Invite ended day one with two teams going 2-0 in the University of Northwestern Ohio and Bethel College. 

Pool A saw host Calumet College of St. Joseph being defeated in a match one by Grace College 3-0.  Match two brought a tight match with Northwestern Ohio defeating William Penn University 3-1.  Northwestern Ohio would come back in match three and defeat host Calumet College of St. Joseph 3-0, giving them the current lead of Pool A.  The final match in the pool had William Penn sweeping Grace College 3-0. 

Pool B brought continuous excitement, with each match going four or five games respectively.  The pool started with Cardinal Stritch University and Goshen College battling it out in four games.   Goshen College would pull out the win in a dominating fourth game.  Match two saw Mount Mercy College and Bethel College in the first of two five game matches.  Bethel overcame Mount Mercy in a back and forth match.  Bethel and Cardinal Stritch had match three decided in four games with Bethel winning their second straight match of the night.   Bethel’s 2-0 record gives them the current lead in Pool B.  Match four brought Mount Mercy and Goshen College together for a five game match.  After taking a 2-1 lead Goshen fell to Mount Mercy 3-2.

Volleyball Takes First Conference Victory

10/20/09 – The Crimson Wave volleyball team captured their first conference win in program history tonight, when they beat Cardinal Stritch University 3 game to 2. 

The Crimson Wave walked through the first game 25-12.  The second game brought a 25-13 loss.  Game three the Crimson Wave gave away 25-22.  Game four found the Crimson Wave down early after a back and fourth game through the Crimson Wave took the win 26-24. 
Game five brought the match even tighter when the Crimson Wave won 17-15. 

Kelsey McFarlane led the Crimson Wave with 14 kills.  Katie Kaiser added 9 kills, with Ashley Kieltyka adding 7 kills.  Kate Delaney had 35 assists on the night. 

Ladies Fall Short Against Aquinas

10/10/09 - The Crimson Wave volleyball team lost to Aquinas College today 3-0 (11-25, 12-25, 11-25). Kelsey McFarlane led the ladies with 8 Kills. The ladies next match will be Tuesday October 13th at 7:00 pm at home.
