Kevin Paterson will enter his first collegiate season in the fall of 2012 as the head men and women’s Cross Country and Track and Field Coach. Paterson takes over the reins of the programs from interim head coach Becky Leevey.
Paterson is a CCSJ Alumnus of the track and field program earning his B.S. in Business Management in May of 2009. While running for CCSJ Paterson was named team captain for the 2008 and 2009 seasons while establishing 8 school records during his tenure.
Paterson started his coaching career as a volunteer assistant with the Hobart High School Brickies. In August of 2010 he received his first opportunity as a collegiate coach when hired as an assistant cross country coach and assistant track and field coach at Indiana Tech. Paterson spent one season with Indiana Tech and was responsible for the programs recruiting and meet management. While at Indiana Tech the women’s track and field team won the indoor and outdoor Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships along with the men’s team placing second in both meets. The women’s team also placed sixth overall at both the NAIA Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Paterson also helped both the men and women’s cross country teams into the NAIA Coaches Poll.
Paterson left Indiana Tech in July of 2011 and joined the Bacone College programs as Associate Cross Country Coach and Track and Field Coach. While at Bacone Paterson was responsible for the programs recruiting and meet management. He also coached Bacone’s first ever women’s cross country team while the men’s cross country team placed second in the RRAC. The men’s team was also the first team in Bacone history to be honored as an NAIA All-Academic Team.
In 2008 Paterson founded With Your Help We Can, a community based charity with the goal of changing lives of those that are affected by Autism and Learning Disabilities. The charity established the “Art for Autism” event to help create awareness in the communities.
