Stephanie Zimny enters her fifth season as head coach of the Crimson Wave Softball program. Zimny is a 2010 Alumni of CCSJ earning a B.S. in Elementary Education.
Zimny played softball and volleyball during her collegiate career at Calumet College of St. Joseph. In 2009 Zimny was named CCAC First Team All-Conference as a softball player. She was also named CCSJ’s athlete of the year in 2009. During her collegiate career Zimny was named a Daktronics Scholar-Athlete.
During her tenure as head coach, Zimny has led the Crimson Wave softball program to their first CCAC Tournament appearance in 2011 and has put the program in the post season every year since.
Zimny has coached four CCAC All-Conference First Team and four CCAC All-Conference Second Team Players. She has also had 10 players earn CCAC All-Academic Team Honors and has had three players named NAIA Daktronic Scholar-Athletes. The 2014 Crimson Wave softball team also earned NAIA Scholar-Team honors.
Dave Lopez enters his third year as assistant softball coach for the Crimson Wave under Head Coach Stephanie Zimny. Lopez comes to the Crimson Wave in his first collegiate coaching position from Merrillville High School where he coached the Pirates for the 2011 season. Before coaching at Merrillville, Lopez spent eleven seasons as the assistant softball coach at Griffith High School.
During the 2008 season at Griffith High School, Lopez was named Assistant Coach of the Year by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.
Lopez started his career at North Newton High School in 1992 where he spent four seasons as head coach with the Spartans before moving to an assistant coaching role at Bishop Noll Institute in 1998.
Lopez has also coached several summer travel softball and baseball teams during his 33 year coaching career. His traveling team coaching career is highlighted by 9 ASA Indiana State Softball Championships, an ASA Softball National Runner-up, two Babe Ruth Babe Ruth World Series appearances and an induction into the Indiana ASA Hall of fame in 2009.
