Nicol Takes First at Gettig Invite
4/27/13 - Tyler Nicol led the Crimson Wave men’s golf team to a fourth place finish today at the Gettig Invite hosted by Trine University in Fort Wayne, IN.
Nicol shot a 70 on his way to a tied first place finish with Owens Community College golfer Luke Berger.
Ben Davis carded a 78 for a 27th place finish while teammate Anthony Rubino shot a 79 for 34th place finish. Steve Rankin took 39th and Anthony Spalla 49th shooting an 80 and 85.
This was the final event for the Crimson Wave men’s golf team this season.
Nicol All-Conference at CCAC Championship
4/23/13 - The Crimson Wave men’s golf team took a fifth place finish today in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship at Balmoral Golf Club in Crete, IL.
The Crimson Wave were led by an All-Conference performance from Tyler Nicol who took a 3rd place overall finish carding a 73 on day one and 76 on day two. Anthony Rubino scored a 80 and 79 on his way to a 19th place finish. Steve Rankin and Ben Davis took 40th overall with an 87 and 83 for Rankin and 86 and 84 for Davis.
The Crimson Wave scored 648 overall tied with Purdue Calumet. Anthony Spalla’s 88 on each day scored higher than PUC’s Josh Muryzn who finished with a 113 and 96 to give CCSJ the fifth place finish.
Nicol Second at PNC Shootout
4/15/13 - The Crimson Wave golf team competed at the Purdue University North Central Shootout today at the Briar Leaf Golf Club in LaPorte, IN.
Tyler Nicol finished 2nd over carding a 73. Anthony Rubino took 18th overall with an 80. Steve Rankin tallied a 81 on his way to a 21st place finish. Ben Davis took 28th with an 85 while Anthony Spalla took 32nd finishing with an 88.
“Tyler shows due diligence in the classroom as well as on the golf course. Next week taking his brand of quality effort, I believe he has an excellent chance of medalist honors at the CCAC Championship.” Said Head Coach George Topoll
The Crimson Wave will be back in action at the CCAC Championship at Balmoral Woods Golf Course, Crete, Illinois on Monday and Tuesday, April 22 and 23.
