
Men's Soccer Hosts Tryout
11/7/11 - On Saturday November 12th at 1pm, the Crimson Wave men's soccer team is hosting an open tryout to any potential student-athlete that is considering CCSJ as an option for school. The address of the soccer field is 7403 Cline Ave, Schererville IN. This will be a great opportunity to come out and meet the team and the coaching staff. Men’s Soccer Ends Season on Senior Day
10/29/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team ended their 2011 campaign at home today honoring Senior Miguel Vega in a 5-1 loss to Cardinal Stritch University.
The Crimson Wave men scored their only goal of the game in the 76th minute when the ball popped off the Cardinal Stritch goalies hands and Matt Carlson put in the back of the net. Jorge Barba ended the day with 3 saves.
The Crimson Wave end their season 2-16 overall and 0-10 in the CCAC.
Men Fall Short at Home
10/26/11 – The Crimson Wave men fell a goal short tonight to Lawrence Technological University at home 3-2.
The Crimson Wave men came out strong going up 2-0 at the half. The Crimson Wave’s first goal was scored in the 11th minute of play when Salvador Salazar touched it past the Lawrence Tech goalie for the 1-0 lead. The men would grab there next goal in the 43rd minute when a pass from Stewart Thur set up Jesus Avalos for the back of the net. The Crimson Wave remained scoreless in the second half giving Lawrence Tech three goals.
Jorge Barba had 8 saves in goal for the men.
The Crimson Wav are now 2-15 overall and will host CCAC opponent Cardinal Stritch University on Saturday October 29th at 2:00 pm.
Men’s Soccer Falls Short at IIT
10/22/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team came up a few goals short to Illinois Tech, 7-4, as they outscored the Scarlet Hawks 3-2 in the second half.
The Crimson Wave’s first goal came in the 35th minute as Matt Plawecki put a shot across the goal and buried it in the bottom right corner. The Crimson Wave would not score again until the 51st minute when Matt Carlson took a pass from Jesus Avalos and laced a ball past the Scarlet Hawks goalie. The men would score 21 minutes later as Stewart Thur tapped a ball to Avalos for the goal. Rob Thome assisted Thur in the 82 minute for the final Crimson Wave goal
The men are now 2-14 overall and 0-9 in the CCAC. The men will host Lawrence Tech on Wednesday October 26th at 2:00 pm.
Men Take Loss at Holy Cross
10/18/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a 4-2 loss at CCAC opponent Holy Cross College tonight in South Bend, IN.
The Crimson Wave were led by goals from Andrew Goralczyk and Matt Plawecki. Both goals were assisted by Jesus Avalos.
The men are now 2-13 and 0-8 in the CCAC. The men will travel to Chicago, IL to take on Illinois Tech on Saturday October 22nd at 7:00 pm.
Men Take Conference Loss
10/15/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a CCAC loss to the University of St. Francis today at home 2-0.
The Crimson Wave’s Jorge Barba had one save in the goal for the hard playing CCSJ defense.
The Crimson Wave are now 2-12 and 0-7 in the CCAC. The men will travel to Holy Cross College on Tuesday October 18th for a 4:00 pm CCAC game.
Men Take Loss to TIU in Deerfield
10/12/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a CCAC loss to Trinity International University tonight 4-1 in Deerfield, IL.
The Crimson Wave scored their lone goal on a penalty kick by Rob Thome in the 55th minute of play.
The Crimson Wav are now 2-11 overall and 0-6 in CCAC play. The men will host the University of St. Francis on Saturday October 15th at 2:00 pm.
Men’s Soccer Came Up Short at Home
10/8/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a conference loss today to Olivet Nazarene University at home 3-1.
The Crimson Wave fell behind early giving up a goal in the 13th minute of play. The Crimson Wave equalized the game in when Matt Plawecki took a pass from Rob Thome and laced it pass the Olivet goalie for the score. The score would hold at one apiece through the end of the half.
The second half would bring two more Olivet goals making the final score 3-1. Jorge Barba had 6 saves in goal for the Crimson Wave.
The men are now 2-10 overall and 0-5 in CCAC play. The Crimson Wave will travel to Trinity International University on Wednesday October 12th for a 4:00 pm CCAC game.
Men’s Soccer Takes CCAC Loss
10/4/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a conference loss today to Judson University in Elgin, IL 9-2.
The first Crimson Wave goal was scored in the 36th minute of play by Andrew Gorlalczyk off a free kick by Matt Plawecki. The Crimson Wave’s second goal came in the 80th minute when John Kantor sent a pass to Plawecki who laced the ball in the right side of the net just beyond the 18.
The Crimson Wave will host Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday October 8th at 2:00 pm.
Crimson Wave Fall to Eagles
10/1/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a conference loss today to CCAC opponent the Robert Morris University Eagles 5-1.
The Crimson Wave fell behind early 2-0 in the 12th minute of play. The men answered in the 27th minute when an Eagles foul put Stewart Thur one on one with goalie for a penalty kick. Thur converted to cut the Eagles deficit to one. Thur’s goal would be the only for the Crimson Wave as they gave the Eagles three more for a 5-1 loss.
The Crimson Wave’s Jorge Barba had 5 saves in goal.
The Crimson Wave are now 2-8 overall and 0-3 in CCAC play. The men will travel to Judson University on October 4th for a 3:30 pm CCAC game.
Men’s Soccer Takes Loss to SXU
9/28/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a conference loss to St. Xavier University tonight 6-2 at home.
The Crimson Wave fell behind early trailing 4-0 at the half. Matt Plawecki put the men’s first goal in the back of the net in the 70th minute of play. Jorge Bahenas scored the second Crimson Wave goal in the 90th minute play.
Jorge Barba had two saves in goal for the men.
The Crimson Wave will host Robert Morris University on Saturday October 1st at 2:00 pm.
Men’s Soccer Takes Conference Loss
9/24/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a conference loss in Palos Heights, IL at the Trinity Christian College 6-0.
The Crimson Wave fought hard with goalie Jorge Barba grabbing 6 saves on the day.
The Crimson Wave will host St. Xavier University on Wednesday September 28th at 4:00 pm.
Men’s Soccer Falls Short at Home
9/21/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team fell short tonight at home against Aquinas College 4-1 in Schererville, IN.
The Crimson Wave fell behind early giving up two goals in the second half. In the 66th minute of play the Crimson Wave brought themselves within one goal, 2-1, when Jesus Avalos served the ball in front of the goal from the right side and connected with Jorge Bahenas for a header. The Crimson Wave then gave up back to back goals to give the game to Aquinas.
The Crimson Wave men will travel to Trinity Christian College on Saturday September 24th for a 2:00 pm CCAC match up.
Men’s Soccer Takes Loss at Goshen
9/17/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a tough loss tonight at Goshen College 4-1, in Goshen, IN.
The Crimson Wave’s lone goal was scored in the 78th minute of play by Jorge Bahena. The goal was assisted by Joseph Bax. Jorge Barba had three saves in goal for the men.
The Crimson Wave men will host Aquinas College on Wednesday September 21st at 4:30 pm.
Men Fall Short at Home
9/10/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team fell a goal short, 4-3, today as they hosted Madonna University.
The Crimson Wave men struck first as Matt Plawecki tucked the first goal of the game past the Madonna goalie in the fourth minute of play. After allowing back to back Madonna goals the Crimson Wave answered back in the 51st minute when Stewart Thur put a penalty kick in the left side of the goal to tie the game. Another set of Madonna goals would leave the Crimson Wave down two 4-2. In the final minute of play Andrew Goralczyk put the men within one goal as he tapped it in by the keeper.
Jorge Barba had 5 saves for the Crimson Wave in goal.
The men will travel to Goshen College on Saturday September 17th for a 6:00 pm game.
Men’s Soccer Takes Loss at Parkside
9/7/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a loss tonight at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
The Crimson Wave were defeated 4-0. Jorge Barba ended the night with 1 save for the Crimson Wave.
The Crimson Wave men will host Madonna University on Saturday September 10th at 2:00 pm.
Men Take Crimson Wave Invite Championship
9/4/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took the Crimson Wave Invite Championship today over William Penn University 1-0.
The Crimson Wave’s lone goal came in the 62nd minute of play on a service from Joe Bax to Salvador Salazar to give the Crimson Wave a 1-0 lead. The Crimson Wave defense led by Andrew Goralczyk, stepped up and held off William Penn for the win.
Goralczyk was named invite MVP with teammates Salazar and Matt Plawecki named to the all-invite team.
The Crimson Wave are now 2-1 on the season.
Men Defeat Doane with Golden Goal
9/3/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team defeated the Doane College Tigers in the opening round of the Crimson Wave Invite in Schererville, IN with a golden goal in the first overtime of play to advance to the championship game.
The Tigers scored the first goal of the game in the 24th minute. The Crimson Wave’s Matt Plawecki answered back 13 minutes later, splitting two defenders for an unassisted goal. The game went into the half in a 1-1 tie.
The Crimson Wave scored their next goal in the 48th minute when Plawecki assisted Jorge Bahena for the goal. The Tigers would equalize in the 72nd minute to send the game to overtime.
The Crimson Wave would score their golden goal in the 97th minute of play when Jesus Avalos serve the ball in from the left side to Stewart Thur who touched it off to Bahena for the win.
William Penn University defeated Marygrove College in game two 4-1.
The Crimson Wave will advance to the championship game against William Penn tomorrow at 4:30 pm.
Men’s Soccer Falls Short at Home
8/28/11 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a loss today in their home opener against the University of St. Francis (Indiana) 3-2 in the final minutes of play.
The Crimson Wave were led by goals from Matt Plawecki and Jorge Bahena. Plawecki’s goal came in the 23 minute of play on a free kick while Bahena’s came in the 82nd minute to tie play.
Jorge Barba ended the day with three saves in goal.
The Crimson Wave’s next contest will be Labor Day weekend when the men host Marygrove College, Doane College, and William Penn University in the Crimson Wave Invitational.
Morales, Munoz and Sandoval Named Scholar-Athletes
12/3/10 – Crimson Wave women’s soccer players Evelyn Morales and Linda Munoz and men’s soccer player Jose Sandoval have been named 2010 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Sandoval has earned this award for the third time in his career as a Crimson Wave men’s soccer player. This is the first time receiving this honor for Morales and Munoz.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
Goralczyk Named to CCAC 2nd Team
11/13/10 - Crimson Wave men’s soccer player, sophomore and central defender, Andrew Goralczyk (Merrillville HS), has been named CCAC 2nd team all-conference this season.
Andrew played in all 18 regular season matches and did not miss a single minute of action during those 18 games (1,707.28 minutes played) with five of the eighteen games going to overtime. With this honor Goralczyk becomes the first men's soccer player in the team's short five-year history to earn an all-conference selection.
“As a coach I am very proud of this accomplishment because Andy has worked extremely hard to earn such a conference distinction in a very tough soccer conference. Plus he has made our team stronger and more competitive during his first seasons as a Crimson Wave student-athlete.” Said Head Coach Peter Haring

10/30/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team ended their season against conference opponent Cardinal Stritch University in a 1-0 loss in Milwaukee, WI today.
The Crimson Wave’s Alex Gallegos had 5 saves in goal.
The Crimson Wave men ended their season 3-11-4 overall and 0-6-4 in CCAC play.
Men Say Goodbye to Seniors
10/23/10 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team took a 2-0 loss today to CCAC opponent Illinois Tech today at home.
The Crimson Wave said good by to four seniors Jose Sandoval (Hammond, IN), Daniel Zaragoza (Hammond, IN), Edward Barcenas (Merrillville, IN) and Noel Gonzalez (Chicago, IL). Jose Sandoval and Daniel Zaragoza were four year players for the Crimson Wave.
The Crimson Wave men have one regular season game left when they travel to Cardinal Stritch University on Saturday October 30th for a CCAC match up.
Men’s Soccer Ties in 20T
10/20/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team ended in their fourth tie of the season tonight against CCAC opponent Holy Cross College 1-1 in double overtime.
Holy Cross took an early 1-0 lead on the Crimson Wave. In the 79th minute of play Andrew Goralczyk served a ball into the box off a free kick to Jeff Melton for the tying goal. This goal sent the game into overtime. After two scoreless overtimes the men took their fourth tie of the season.
The Crimson Wave men will host Illinois Tech on Saturday October 23rd at 3:00 pm. This will be senior day for the Crimson Wave men.
Soccer Game Changes Time
10/19/10 – The Crimson Wave doubleheader soccer game for this Saturday October 23rd has been moved to a 1:00 pm start for the women and a 3:00 pm start for the men.
The men’s game will also be senior day for the Crimson Wave, honoring the men’s four seniors.
The games will be played at the Crimson Wave’s home field at Campagna Academy.

10/15/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a loss today in Joliet, IL to CCAC rival the University of St. Francis 2-0.

Men Tie Robert Morris in Double Overtime
10/2/10 - The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team tied conference opponent Robert Morris University 1-1 in double overtime tonight.
Robert Morris score first taking a 1-0 lead into the break. The second half started with a Crimson Wave goal evening the score to 1-1. The goal came off a Julian Zamano corner kick to Fernando Padilla for the goal.
The Crimson Wave men are now 3-6-2 overall and 0-1-2 in CCAC play. The men will host Judson University on Wednesday October 6th at 4:00 pm.
Men End in Double Overtime Tie
9/28/10 – With 11 saves in goal Alex Gallegos helped the Crimson Wave men’s soccer team hold St. Xavier University to a 0-0 double overtime tie tonight in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference game.
Andrew Goralczyk and Andy Austin each had two shots on goal for the Crimson Wave. St. Xavier University received votes today in the NAIA Coaches Poll.
The Crimson Wave currently sit at 3-6-1 overall and 0-1-1 in CCAC play. The men will travel to Chicago on Saturday to take on Robert Morris University at 4:30 pm.

9/25/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a tough loss at home today to conference opponent Trinity Christian College 3-0.
Alex Gallegos had one save in the Crimson Wave loss.

Padilla Named CCAC Player of the Week
9/22/10 - Grabbing his first CCAC Player of the Week award, men’s soccer player Fernando Padilla was a key player in Crimson Wave wins over Warren Wilson and Spring Arbor.
Padilla had four goals on the week as the Crimson Wave went 2-1. In a 4-0 win over Warren Wilson, he netted two goals and then added his third of the week in a 3-0 win against Spring Arbor. The men’s lone loss came in a 3-2 decision to NCAA Division III Kalamazoo where Padilla had one of the two goals

Men’s Soccer Defeated at Kalamazoo College
9/18/10 - The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team was defeated today at Kalamazoo College 3-2 in overtime.
The Crimson Wave men took an early 1-0 lead in the 12th minute of play when Marco Torres setup Fernando Padilla for the goal. Kalamazoo tied the game at one in the 51st minute of play.
Kalamazoo took the lead 2-1 in the 89th minute of play, the Crimson Wave were called for an off the ball foul that resulted in a Kalamazoo penalty kick. Thirty-two seconds later Torres chipped in a ball off his knee to tie the game at two a piece, leaving two seconds left on the clock.
Seven minutes into overtime the Crimson Wave gave up the golden goal.
The men are now 3-5 overall.
Men’s Soccer Wins at Spring Arbor
9/17/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team won at Spring Arbor University today 3-0.
The Crimson Wave’s firs goal was by Fernando Padilla assisted by Noel Gonzalez. Matt Carlson scored the men’s second goal assisted by Padilla. Daniel Zaragoza put away the men’s final goal with an assist from Carlson.
The men are now 3-5 overall and will take on Kalamazoo College tomorrow at 1:30 pm.
Men’s Soccer Splits in North Carolina
9/12/10 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team split a pair of games in North Carolina this weekend against Montreat College and Warren Wilson College.
On Saturday the men faced Montreat College in Montreat, NC. The Crimson Wave men fell to Montreat 5-0.
The men traveled to Asheville, NC on Sunday to face Warren Wilson College. The men opened up the game strong and never looked back. Fernando Padilla scored the men’s first and third goals of the day and had one assist. Andrew Goralczyk put away a penalty kick for the men and Jeff Melton scored on a pass from Jose Sandoval for a 4-0 Crimson Wave victory.
The Crimson Wave men are now 2-4 on the season. Their next game will be at Spring Arbor University on Friday September 17th at 3:00 pm.
Crimson Wave Invite Day 2
9/5/10 – The Crimson Wave Invite ended this evening with both the Crimson Wave men and women’s soccer teams being defeated in the championship games.
In the ladies championship the Crimson Wave were defeated by Marygrove College 2-0 after a scoreless first half. The Crimson Wave’s Linda Munoz, Ashley Fussell, and Keirsten Cheathem were all named to the all-invite team.
In the consolation game Iowa Wesleyan College defeated Mountain State University 1-0.
On the men’s side the Crimson Wave men were defeated 3-0 by the 7th ranked (NAIA coaches poll) Notre Dame College. The men fell behind by three at the half keeping Notre Dame scoreless in the second half. The Crimson Wave’s Fernando Padilla, Alex Gallegos and Andrew Goralczyk were all named to the all-invite team.
In the consolation game Marygrove College defeated Iowa Wesleyan College 2-0.
Men and Women’s Soccer Advance to Championship
Crimson Wave Invite Day One
9/4/10 – The Crimson Wave men and women’s soccer teams have both advanced to the championship games of the Crimson Wave Invite tomorrow after first round wins today.
The Crimson Wave women were the first to advance in game one of the invite. The ladies defeated Mountain State University 2-0. Leslie Cuadra scored the Crimson Wave’s first goal on a penalty kick in the 47th minute play. The ladies sealed their place in the championship when Ashley Fussell tucked the ball around the Mountain State goalie for a 2-0 lead and a Crimson Wave victory.
In game two Marygrove College defeated Iowa Wesleyan College 2-1.
The Crimson Wave ladies will face Marygrove College in the championship game tomorrow Sunday September 5th at 2:00 pm. The consolation game between Mountain State and Iowa Wesleyan will be at 9:00 am. All games of the invite are being held at Campagna Academy.
On the men’s side the Crimson Wave men crushed Marygrove College 4-0 in game one. The Crimson Wave’s Fernando Padilla scored all four goals for the men. Daniel Zaragoza and Jeff Melton each had an assist along with Julian Zamano’s two assists. Padilla’s last three goals came in the final five minutes of play.

8/29/10 - The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team took a 3-1 loss today at the University of St. Francis despite a six save effort by goalie Alex Gallegos.
The Crimson Wave scored first in the 15th minute of play when Julian Zamano set up Fernando Padilla for his first goal of the season. The Crimson Wave would let the Cougars in the game giving up a goal in the 43rd minute of play.
The Crimson Wave would give the Cougars the lead off an own goal in the 47th minute. The Cougars put the lead to two on a set piece that would take and odd bounce past the Crimson Wave keeper.
The Crimson Wave men are now 0-2 and will play their next game in the first round of the Crimson Wave Invite on Saturday September 4th against Marygrove College at 2:00 pm.
Mustang trio commits to the Crimson Wave
3/20/10 - Head coach Peter Haze Haring proudly announces the signing of Matt Carlson, Pedro Gomez and Jorge Barba as the first three committed recruits for 2010-11 men’s soccer season. Coach Haring traveled into the south Chicagoland area and corralled three quality Mustang players from St. Rita High School to be a part of the Crimson Wave tradition at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Carlson is a fast, smart, aggressive striker who will add depth to the offensive fire-power for the Crimson Wave this fall. Haring comments on Carlson as being “a player who makes smart soccer decisions with his attacking runs. His quick play and awareness within the offensive third of the field will become a major impact on the goal scoring success of the team. Matt will bring a ton of intensity and effort to the Crimson Wave men’s soccer program.”
Gomez is a crafty outside midfielder who has good pace and field vision. “Pedro will have the opportunity to gain quality game time minutes as an outside midfielder because of his uncanny ability to play quality passes into a striking run. What I really like about Gomez is his field vision along with his ability to go 1v1 as an outside player. He could be a key play-maker for the Crimson Wave this fall. “
Barba will be contending for the starting goalkeeper position. Haring comments on Barba, “Jorge will get every opportunity to earn the chance to fill the goalkeeping position this fall. He has a solid presence inside of the goal box and is deceptive with his ability to make quick saves. His work ethic to the goalkeeping position is strong and I know he is motivated to earn the spot as the team’s keeper this upcoming season.”
The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team looses six starting players due to graduation this spring. Of the six graduating players five were starters who played all four seasons and were the foundation of the men’s soccer program which began in the fall of 2006. Carlson, Gomez and Barba will add a new level of skill, commitment and effort to the Crimson Wave soccer program at Calumet College of St. Joseph. Haring concludes, “All three players are quality additions to the CCSJ men’s team and will be considered the next group of young men to lead the team to a new level of success.”
Sandoval and Miroski Named All-Scholar
1/19/09 – Crimson Wave men’s soccer player Boge Miroski and
Jose Sandoval have named to that NSCAA Scholar All-Region Team. This is the second year in a row each of these student athletes have received this award.
The NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) is the governing coaching association for soccer in the United States.
Fentress Named CCAC POW
11/5/09 - Senior men’s soccer player Ryan Fentress has earned CCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending on November 1st.
The Crimson Wave earned it’s first-ever victory over Judson University, this year's regular-season champions. Although Judson had already wrapped up the regular-season title, Calumet's playoff dreams were still alive and the Crimson Wave took care of business against the Eagles winning 3-2. Fentress contributed in two of the team's three goals, scoring the goal to put Calumet up 2-0 and then assisting on the game-winning goal.
“Ryan has been a cornerstone of the men’s soccer program during his four years as a varsity players. He came up big against one of the best teams in the conference traditionally in Judson University. The victory over JU was another accomplishment in the program’s short four year history. Men’s Soccer Ends Season
11/3/09 - The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team ended their season tonight against CCAC opponent St. Xavier University. The Cougars defeated the Crimson Wave 6-0.
The Crimson Wave honored their six seniors, Ryan Fentress, Miguel Diaz, Francisco Padilla, Danny Torres, Eric Ruiz and Brendan Mulroe in a half-time ceremony. The men end their season 5-11-2 overall.
Men’s Soccer Game Moved
11/2/09 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer game on Tuesday November 3, 2009 against St. Xavier University will be played at Portage High School in Portage, IN. The game time will be changed to 5:00 pm. This will be senior night for the Crimson Wave.
Crimson Wave Upset Conference Powerhouse JU
10/31/09 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team traveled to Elgin, IL to take on the regular season conference champions, Judson University. Scoring for CCSJ began soon after the opening whistle in the 2:30 minute mark with junior striker Edward Barcenas scoring near post of off a conrer kick from junior Jose Sandoval. The Crimson Wave kept rolling and scored in their second goal of the game three minutes later when senior striker Ryan Fentress (assisted by Ed Barcenas) laced a low driven shot near post to beat Judson's goalkeeper to take a early 2-0 lead. The Eagles of Judson fought back midway through the first half and scored off of a free kick to cut the lead in half 2-1. With 20 seconds remaining in the first half Judson scored to tie the match 2-2.
CCSJ came out of halftime looking to try and take the lead early like the first half. The Crimson had a couple of good shots on goal by junior Bobby Miroski and Fentress. Both teams held their own throughout the first twenty-five minutes of the second half, then senior Miguel Diaz made a perfect run from the weak side of the field to score off of a well placed pass from Fentress. The lazer of a shot from Diaz gave the Crimson Wave the 3-2 lead and eventually the victory. Freshman goalkeeper Hector Zamano finished the game with seven saves. This win marks the first victory over the CCAC powerhouse Judson University. The men's record is now 5-10-2 overall for the season.
Men Fall Short at Home
10/28/09 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team fell short tonight to conference opponent Trinity International Univeristy 2-1. The men's only goal was scored by Bobby Miroski on a Jeff Melton assist.
The Crimson Wave (2-10-2) will travel to Judson University on Saturday October 31st for a 2:00 pm conference match up.
Men Wash Away Trolls
10/24/09 – The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team defeated CCAC opponent Trinity Christian College 2-1. Bobby Miroski scored the Crimson Wave’s first goal on a Ryan Fentress assist. Jose Sandoval scored the men’s second goal on a double assisted free kick from Edwin Moreno to Miroski.
The Crimson Wave (4-9-2) will host CCAC opponent Trinity International University on Wednesday October 28th at 3:00 pm.
Men Take Conference Loss
10/20/09 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team took a conference loss tonight to conference opponent Olivet Nazarene University 5-1. Andy Austin scored the Crimson Wave's only goal unassisted.
The Crimson Wave (3-9-2) will host Trinity Christian College Saturday October 24th at 2:00 pm.
Men Fall Short at IIT
10/10/09 - The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team fell short today at Illinois Tech 7-4 in a CCAC match up. Jeff Melton and Edward Barcenas each had a goal while Andrew Goralczyk had two goals for the Crimson Wave. Jose Sandoval and Melton each had an assist.
The Crimson Wave (3-8-2 overall, 1-3-1 CCAC) will travel to Olivet Nazarene University on October 20th for a 2:00 pm CCAC game.
Men Lose Tough Game
10/6/09 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team lost a tough battle today to the University of St. Francis 2-1 in a wet and windy battle.
The Crimson Wave men gave up two early goals before answering back in the forty-third minute of play on a Ryan Fentress goal. The second half would go with out a goal.
The men are now 3-7-2 overall and 1-2-1 in CCAC play. The Crimson Wave will travel to Illinois Tech Saturday October 10th for a 2:00 pm CCAC match up.
Men Battle at Holy Cross
10/3/09 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team fought a tough ninety minute battle against Holy Cross College.
Holy Cross, the newest member of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference scored the games only goal, defeating the Crimson Wave 1-0. The men are now 3-6-2 overall and 1-1-1 in CCAC play.
Men Wipeout Wolves
9/30/09 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team defeated confernece opponent Cardinal Stritch University 2-1. Jeff Melton scored the men's first goal while Jose Sandoval scored the second off a Bobby Miroski assist. The men are now 3-5-2 overall and 1-1 in CCAC play.

9/26/09 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team ended their conference matchup with Robert Morris tied 1-1 after two overtimes. The Crimson Wave's goal came in the first half by Jeff Melton on a Bobby Miroski assist. The men are now 2-5-2.
Men Come Up Short at Huntington
9/19/09 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team fell short at Huntington University today being defeated 1-0. Hector Zamano had six saves for the men. The men are now 2-5-1. The Crimson Wave will travel to Robert Morris College on Saturday September 26 for a conference match up.
Men Take Loss at Home
9/15/09 - The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team was defeated at home tonight by Spring Arbor University 7-1. Jose Sandoval scored the Crimson Wave’s only goal in the 12th minute of play. The men are now 2-4-1 overall.
Fentress Named CCAC Offensive Player of the Week
9/8/09 – Crimson Wave men’s soccer player Ryan Fentress (Griffith HS) has been named the CCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Fentress’s performances include a goal against William Penn University, one goal and one assist in the Crimson Wave’s 5-1 victory over Waldorf College in the opening round of the Crimson Wave Invite. Fentress scored the only goal of the game in the men’s 1-0 win over Mountain State University in the championship game of the Crimson Wave Invite. Fentress was named the Crimson Wave Invite Most Outstanding Player.
Men Win Championship Game
9/6/09 - The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team won the championship game of the Crimson Wave Invite today, 1-0, over Mountain State University. Ryan Fentress scored the men’s only goal in the 23rd minute of play on a penalty kick. Goalie Hector Zamano had five saves for the Crimson Wave. Fentress was also named the invite MVP.
Men Advance to Championship Game
9/5/09 - The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team had advanced the championship game of the Crimson Wave Invite with an opening round win over Waldorf College.
The Crimson Wave took the opening round game 5-1. Edwin Moreno scored the men’s first goal on a corner kick from Ryan Fentress. The men’s second goal was unassisted by Danny Torres.
The second half brought three more goals by the Crimson Wave. Julian Zamano scored the first goal of the second half on a Bobby Miroski assist. Fentress then scored the men’s fourth goal on an Edward Barcenas assist. The Crimson Wave’s final goal came in the 72nd minute by Jeff Melton.
The men will play in the championship game tomorrow September 6th at 4:30 pm against Mountain State University. The invite is being held at Campagna Academy in Schererville, IN.
Men Tie at William Penn
9/2/09 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team tied 2-2 with William Penn University tonight. The men scored their first goal in the tenth minute of play by Bobby Miroski (Crown Point HS). The goal was assisted by Andy Austin (Portage HS), this was the first collegiate assist for Austin. The fiftieth minute brought the Crimson Wave their second goal by Ryan Fentress (Griffith HS) assisted by Jeff Melton (Portage HS), this was also the first collegiate assist by Melton. Hector Zamano ended the night with 11 saves in goal.
The men (0-2-1) will play in the opening round of the Crimson Wave Invite on Saturday August 5th at 2:00 pm against Waldorf College. The invite will be held at the Crimson Wave's home field at Campagna Academy.
Men's Soccer Defeated at Parkside
8/27/09 - The Crimson Wave men's soccer team was defeated tonight at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside 6-0. Freshman Hector Zamano had 18 saves for the men.
The Crimson Wave (0-1) will host the University of St. Francis (IN) on Sunday August 30th at 2:00 pm.

Men Win in Season Exhibition
8/20/09 - The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team won their exhibition match up against Iowa Wesleyan College today 3-0. The men were led by two goals from freshman Jeff Melton and a goal by Junior Edward Barcenas. Senior Ryan Fentress and freshman Julian Zamano each had an assist while freshman Hector Zamano had two saves in goal. The Crimson Wave men will open up their season at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on August 27 in a 4:30 pm match up.
Gonzalez Comes to the Crimson Wave
8/12/09 - Calumet College of St. Joseph men’s soccer coach Peter Haring has announced the signing of Noel Gonzalez, from Cristo Rey High School in Chicago, IL to a national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers in soccer with the Crimson Wave.
After Gonzalez’s career at Cristo Rey High School he spent his first two college seasons at South Suburban Community College. Gonzalez will add depth and experience to the Crimson Wave squad. He is a very creative player ready to attack at anytime.
“I really liked the small school environment. I have known a lot of the guys on the team for some time now and I really wanted to play with them the next two seasons.” Said Gonzalez on choosing the Crimson Wave
Gonzalez will come to Calumet College of St. Joseph to study Forensic Science.
"Noel will be a very nice addition to the midfield as an attacking player. He is very technical and creative with the ball to go along with his natural speed. Austin Signs with the Crimson Wave
8/3/09 - Calumet College of St. Joseph men’s soccer coach Peter Haring has announced the signing of Andy Austin, from Portage High School to a national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers in soccer with the Crimson Wave.
The explosive Portage High School standout was a two year All-DAC player along with helping lead his team to a conference championship in 2007. Austin will add depth to the young Crimson Wave squad this season.
“I really liked the team here. I like the small school environment and the fact that it was close to home.” Said Austin on choosing the Crimson Wave
Austin will come to Calumet College of St. Joseph to study Education.

Torres Signs with the Crimson Wave
6/26/09 - Calumet College of St. Joseph men’s soccer coach Peter Haring has announced the signing of Marco Torres, from East Chicago Central High School to a national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers in soccer with the Crimson Wave.
Torres comes to the Crimson Wave to add depth to the already strong scoring arsenal. His hard work on the field will help improve the team. Marco will help push his teammates to their potential.
“I wanted to get my degree and play soccer. College soccer is a whole new mentality. I really hope to grow as a player and improve my game to be able to move on to the next level.” Said Marco Torres on playing college soccer
Torres will come to Calumet College of St. Joseph to study Business Management.
“Marco will be a player who adds a ton speed and effort to the striking core of the team. He can be a very good 1 v 1 player as an attacker which will add to the depth of the team for years to come.” Haring goes on to say, “As Marco’s collegiate career develops he will become a solid player to rely on in scoring goals for the Crimson Wave.”
Golarczyk to Play for the Crimson Wave
6/11/09 - Calumet College of St. Joseph men’s soccer coach Peter Haring has announced the signing of Andrew Golarczyk, from Merrillville High School to a national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers in soccer with the Crimson Wave.
While at Merrillville High School the intense midfielder was named to the DAC All-Conference team. With a hard work ethic and high level experience, Golarczyk will be a great fit for the Crimson Wave.
“I thought that Calumet College would be a good learning experience, I liked the small school atmosphere. I have a couple of friends on the team so that helped my decision.” said Golarczyk on making his decision on Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Golarczyk will come to Calumet College of St. Joseph to study Business Management.
“Andrew will bring versatility, aggressiveness, and the technical ability to help the midfield become more balanced within the team system of play. He has a constant work ethic and has the potential of becoming a dominate player within the NAIA and CCAC. “
