Zimny Named CCAC Player of the Week

4/30/09 - Crimson Wave softball senior Stephanie Zimny used her speed - 10 stolen bases in 11 attempts - to score 10 runs, while driving in another six with her bat. She batted .500 for the week (13-of-26) with a trio of 3-for-5 games.

One of those games came in a 6-1 victory over Trinity Christian College on April 23, where Zimny also threw a two-hitter and struck out eight batters against only one walk. Offensively, Zimny notched her first home run of the season, scored a pair of runs and stole two bases.

Men Take Loss at PNC

4/29/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball team took a conference loss today at Purdue University North Central 3-1. Billy Metzen took the loss on the mound with six strikeouts. Mike Helfen was 2-2 at the plate. The men are now 8-32 overall.

Men Compete at Hillsdale

4/26/09 - The Crimson Wave track and field team competed at the Gina Relays this weekend at Hillsdale College.

Distance runner Robbie Loop won his heat of the 1500m run with a time of 4:17.09 finishing 65th overall. Brian Bowman also ran one of his fastest times in the 1500m run with a time of 4:20.59.

Brandon Gilbert ran a personal best 11.86s in the 100m while Anthony Hollingsworth set a school record in the 200m with a time of 22.32.

Men Split with International

4/25/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball team split a conference doubleheader today against Trinity International University at home.

In game one the men were defeated 12-0.

In game two the men won 10-6. The men were led by Ryan Young going 3-4 at the plate with two RBI's. Chris Kopp was 2-4 at the plate today.

The men are now 8-31.

Baseball Falls Short at Trinity

4/24/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball team fell short today at Trinity International University 3-0. The men were led by Mike Helfin who went 2-3 at the plate. Mike Maddox took the loss for the men with seven strikeouts.

The men will host Trinity International in a conference double header tommorow April 25th at 12:00 pm.

Ladies Say Goodbye to Seniors

4/24/09 - The Crimson Wave softball team said goodbye to eight seniors tonight as the ladies lost both games of a conference doubleheader to Cardinal Stritch University.

In game one the ladies were defeated 6-2. The ladies were led by senior Ashley Lake who was 2-2 at the plate.

In game two the ladies were defeated 16-1.

The Crimson Wave's eight seniors are Jessica Chamberlain, Ashley Dau, Penny Bensinger, Ashley Lake, Brittany Dickerson, Angie Malinowski, Aubrey Wiersema, and Stephanie Zimny.

The ladies will play their last regular season games on Sunday April 26th against Purdue University North Central at 10:00 am at Portage High School.

Ladies Sweep Trolls

4/23/09 - The Crimson Wave softball team swept the Trinity Christian Trolls tonight in a conference doubleheader.

In game one the Crimson Wave won 6-1. The ladies were led by Stephanie Zimny who was 4-5 from the plate with two runs scored three singles and a home run. Zimny was also the winning pitcher.

In game two the ladies won 8-1. Corey Cappello was the winning pitcher for the Crimson Wave, while Penny Bensinger was 2-3 with a double and two RBI's and Brittany Dickerson was 2-4 with a double.

The Crimson Wave (13-37) will host conference opponent Cardinal Stritch University Friday April 24th at 3:00 pm.

Baseball Drops Two to PNC

4/22/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball team was defeated in both games of a conference doubleheader today against Purdue University North Central.

In game one the men were defeated 9-5. The men were led by Ryan Schiever who was 2-3 at the plate with a RBI. Ben Stepanian took the loss on the mound for the men.

In game two the men were defeated 8-0.

The Crimson Wave (7-29) will travel to Trinity International University Friday April 24th for a 3:30 pm conference match up.

Ladies Split with Judson

4/22/09 - The Crimson Wave softball team split a conference doubleheader today against Judson University.

In game one the ladies defeated Judson 3-2. MeiLani Quintanilla led the ladies going 2-2 at the plate. Stephanie Zimny got the win on the mound with four strike outs.

In game two the ladies were defeated 18-14 after a back and fourth battle through the seventh inning. Judson took an early 6-1 lead in the first inning. Judson would increase the lead to 8-4 in the third. The Crimson Wave would cut the lead to two 8-6 in teh fifth. The sixth inning would bring a combined 12 runs (5 for Judson and 7 for the Crimson Wave) tieing it up at 13 a piece. Going into the seventh innning the Crimson could not hold on a gave the game to Judson 18-14.

The ladies were led by Zimny going 3-5 at the plate, who also took the loss on the mound. Angie Malinowski was 2-4.

The Crimson Wave (11-37) will travel to Trinity Christian College tommorow April 23rd for a 3:00 pm conference match up.

Softball Game Postponed

4/21/09 - The Crimson Wave softball game to be played today, April 21st at Purdue North Central University has been rescheduled for Sunday April 26th at 11:00 am.

Baseball Game Rescheduled

4/21/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball game scheduled for today, April 21st, at home against Purdue University North Central has been rescheduled for tommorow April 22nd at 1:00 pm.

Softball Game Rescheduled

4/20/09 - The Crimson Wave softball game to be played today, April 20th at home against Judson University has been rescheduled for Wednesday April 22nd at 4:00 pm.

Hollingsworth Dominates Sprints at Olivet

4/18/09 – Crimson Wave Freshman track and field runner Anthony Hollingsworth won the 100 m and 200 m events at the Mid-Season Invitational today at Olivet Nazarene University.

Hollingsworth won the 100 m event with a time of 11.24 s.  Soon after Hollingsworth won again this time in the 200 m event, running a time of 22.61 s.

Andrew Muha finished fifth in the 200 m with a time of 22.94 s.  Muha also finished eighth in the 100 m with a time of 11.52. 

Ladies Split Day One

4/18/09 – The Crimson Wave softball team split today at the University of Illinois-Springfield Tournament.

In the Crimson Wave’s first game of the day, the ladies took on McKendree College.  The ladies were defeated 6-1.  Stephanie Zimny took the loss on the mound.  Brittany Dickerson was 2-3 at the plate with a RBI.

In game two the ladies took on Hannibal-LaGrange College.  The ladies won 4-1.  Ashley Dau was 2-3 with a RBI and also took the win on the mound.

Men Split at Stritch

4/18/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball team split a conference doubleheader today at Cardinal Stritch University.

In game one the men won 6-4.  Ryan Young was 2-3 at the plate with a RBI while Ben Stepanian was 2-4 and Kenny Segal was 2-3 with two RBI's.  Mike Maddox was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts.

In game two the Crimson Wave came up short 12-9.  Nick Bolda took the loss on the mound with three strikeouts.  Mike Helfin, Jeremy Doolin, John Chance, and Stepanian were all 2-4 and one RBI.

The Crimson Wave (7-27) will take on Indiana University Northwest Monday April 20th at the U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, IN. 

Ladies Take Tough Loss

4/16/09 - The Crimson Wave softball team was defeated in both games of a double header today against St. Joseph’s College.

In game one the ladies were defeated 14-0 and in game two the ladies were defeated 8-0.

The Crimson Wave (8-34) will host St. Mary of the Woods College Friday April 17 at 3:00 pm.

Ladies Defeated by Tigers

4/15/09 - The Crimson Wave softball team was defeated in both games of a conference doubleheader today against Olivet Nazarene University.

In game one the Crimson Wave was defeated 7-1.  Stephanie Zimny was 2-3 at the plate.  Ashley Dau took the loss on the mound for the ladies.

In game two the ladies were defeated 2-0.  Brittany Dickerson was 1-2 at the plate while Ashley Lake was 1-3 and Zimny was 1-4.  Zimny also took the loss on the mound.   

The Crimson Wave (8-32) will host St. Joseph’s College Thursday April 16 in a 3:00 pm match up. 

Men Fall to Cougars

4/15/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball team was defeated by St. Xavier University today in a conference match up 12-2. The men were led by Mike Helfin and John Chance each going 2-4 at the plate and a RBI. Billy Metzen took the loss on the mound with five strikeouts.

The Crimson Wave (5-26) will host conference opponent Cardinal Stritch University Friday April 17 at 3:00 pm.

Men Split With Judson

4/11/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball team split a conference doubleheader today with Judson University.

In game one the Crimson Wave were defeated 6-1. Mike Maddox took the loss on the mound for the men with 7 strikeouts.

In game two the Crimson Wave defeated Judson 3-2 on a base hit from Chris Kopp. Ben Stepanian was 2-3 at the plate with triple and one RBI while Kopp was 2-4 with a RBI. Nick Bolda pitched the win for the men with 7 strikeouts.

The Crimson Wave (5-25) will host St. Xavier University on Wednesday April 15 in a 3:00 pm conference match up.

Ladies Split with Fighting Saints

4/8/09 – The Crimson Wave softball team split a conference double header today against the University of St. Francis Fight Saints.

In game one the ladies were defeated 3-0.  Stephanie Zimny was 2-3 at the plate with one triple.  Ashley Dau took the loss on the mound for the Crimson Wave with five strikeouts. 

In game two the Crimson Wave took an early 1-0 lead in the third inning.  After Fighting Saints runs in both the fourth and fifth innings the Crimson Wave answered back with three runs in the sixth to win the game 4-2.  Zimny would again go 2-3 at the plate also taking the win on the mound. 

The Crimson Wave (8-30) will travel to Trinity Christian College Monday April 13 for a 3:00 pm conference double header. 

Men Defeated by Cougars

4/8/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball team was defeated in both games of a conference double header today at St. Xavier University. In game one the men were defeated 10-4 and in game two 18-7. The men are now 4-23.

Game Rescheduled

4/7/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball game at St. Xavier University Tuesday April 7th has been rescheduled for Wednesday April 8 at 1:30 pm.

Softball Game Cancelled

4/5/09 - The Crimson Wave softball game scheduled for today, April 5, against Marian College has been cancelled due to the weather.

Ladies Sweep Trojans

4/1/09 - The Crimson Wave softball team swept the Trinity International Trojans today in a conference doubleheader.

In game one the ladies came out strong and scored 10 runs in the first inning with triples from Angie Malinowski, Penny Bensinger and Stephanie Zimny. After a small run by the Trojans in the second inning the Crimson Wave never looked backed scoring four runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning taking the win 16-6 in five innings. Ashley Lake along with Malinowski and Zimny were all 3-3 from the plate. Malinowski and Zimny also scored three runs each. Ashley Dau took the win on the mound for the Crimson Wave with three strikeouts.

In game two the ladies picked up right where they left off scoring four runs in the first inning with hits by Jessica Chamberlain, Meghan Jagielski, Lake and Zimny. The second inning brought the Crimson Wave three more runs while the fourth inning brought two giving the ladies the win 9-1. Lake was 3-3 at the plate while Zimny and Jagielski were 2-2. Zimny pitched the win with 11 strikeouts.

The Crimson Wave (7-29) will host Huntington University tomorrow, April 2nd, in a 3:00 pm doubleheader.

Men Struggle as St. Francis

4/1/09 - The Crimson Wave baseball team was defeated today at the University of St. Francis 22-4. The Crimson Wave were led at the plate by Ben Stepanian who was 3-4 with an RBI. The men are now 3-19 overall.
