(3/29/08)Softball Takes Two from Blackburn
The Crimson Wave softball team defeated Blackburn College college today in both games of the double header 9-6 and 3-0. Game one Ashley Dau was the winning pitcher with Ana Liptack taking the save. Angie Malinowksi had two doubles with three RBI's. Penny Bensinger hit her third home run of the season. Game two was led by winning pitcher Stephani Zimny's 10 strikeouts, while Jessica Chamberlain went 2-3. The ladies record is now 7-11.
(3/29/08)Men Defeated by Panthers
The Crimson Wave baseball team was defeated today by Purdue University North Central 1-0 and 6-0 in a conference double header. The Wave's record is now 8-7 overall and 0-4 in conference.
(3/28/08)Wave Drop Two to Cougars
The Crimson Wave softball team was defeated today in both games of a conference double header by St. Xavier University 14-1 and 13-3. Laura Simunic led the Wave offense in game one with a triple batting in Aubrey Wiersema. Wiersema ended the game with single and a stolen base. In game two Simunic went 2-3 with two runs scored, while Ashley Lake went 2-2 with 2 RBI's. The ladies record drops to 5-11 overall and 1-5 in CCAC. The ladies will travel to the University of Illinois at Springfield this weekend.

(3/26/08)Softball Defeated by Eagles
The Crimson Wave softball team was defeated Judson College tonight 6-4 and 4-2. Ashley Lake was 2-3 in game one, while Melissa Liptack drove in two runs. Stephanie Zimny had five strikeouts for the Wave. Game two brought a home run for the Wave by Melissa Liptack going 2-3. Brittany Dickerson ended game two 2-3 for the Wave. The women's record is now 5-9 overall and 1-3 in conference. The ladies will take on St. Xavier University Friday March 28 at home starting at 3:00 pm.
(3/26/08)Baseball Crushes IUN
The Crimson Wave baseball team defeated Indiana University Northwest today 22-0. Brandon Siska was the Wave's winning pitcher. Justin Rogers led the way with a three run homer, followed by a two run homer by Ryan Young. Paul Schorle added to the effort with two hits including a double. The Waves record improves to 8-5. The men's next game will be Saturday March 29 at Purdue University North Central starting at 12:00 pm.
(3/25/08)Dau, Wiersema Earns CCAC Player of the Week
Calumet College of St. Joseph’s Ashley Dau (Chicago Heights, Ill.) and Aubrey Wiersema (Dolton, Ill.) made it a clean sweep of the weekly conference softball honors for the Crimson Wave for the week ending March 23.
Dau, a junior, collected one of the biggest wins in the history of the Calumet St. Joseph program when she came on in relief to toss 2 2/3 innings of shutout softball in the Crimson Wave’s 4-1 victory over 2007 NAIA Region VII Tournament runnerup Robert Morris College on March 20. Two of her outs came on strikeouts.
She also threw an inning of scoreless relief in a 4-3, eight-inning setback to Anderson University (Ind.) on March 21
Overall, Dau went 1-1 in four appearances on the week with a 4.45 earned run average for the Crimson Wave, which slipped to 5-7 on the year after dropping four of its five contests during the week.
Wiersma, a junior outfielder, hit safely in four of her five games played going 5-for-18 (.278) with four runs scored and another three driven in. All three RBI and two of her five hits came in a 13-8 loss to St. Mary-of-the-Woods College (Ind.) on March 22. One of the four runs scored came in the big win over Robert Morris College.

The Crimson Wave baseball team was defeated today in a conference double header by Trinity International University 7-0 and 6-0. The men's record moves to 7-5. The Waves next game will be Wednesday March 26 at Indiana University Northwest starting at 3:00 pm.
(3/22/08)Wave Defeated at IU Southeast Invite
The Crimson Wave softball team was defeated in two games today in day two of the IU Southeast Invitational. The Wave were defeated in game one by Saint Mary of the Woods 13-8. The Waves Penny Bensinger had a two run double, while Aubrey Wiersema had one hit with two RBI's and two runs scored. In game two the Wave were defeated by Judson University 7-4. Ashley Berumen had a two RBI double, Angie Malinowski added to the effort with a double. The ladies record is now 5-7.
(3/22/08)Wave Takes Loss at IU Southeast
The Crimson Wave softball team was defeated tonight by Indiana University Southeast 4-0 and Anderson University 4-3 in eight innings during day one of the IU Southeast Invitational. The Waves record moves to 5-5. The ladies will take on St. Mary of the Woods and Judson University tommorow in day two of the Indiana University Southeast Invite.
(3/17/08)Softball Splits With Robert Morris
The Crimson Wave softball team split with Robert Morris College tonight 4-1 and 1-9. Game one brought a win for pitcher Ashley Dau who improves to 2-0 on the season. The game was tied 1-1 until the ninth inning, when third baseman Penny Bensinger hit a two run double to centerfield to put the Wave up two. Laura Simunic sealed the Waves win with a one run double to end the ninth putting the ladies ahead 4-1. Brittany Dickerson was 2-3 for the Wave. Game two went to Robert Morris College defeating the Wave 9-1. The ladies record is now 5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference.
(3/17/08)Softball Returns Home after Best Start, 4-2
The Crimson Wave softball team returned home from Orlando, Fl this weekend going 4-2. This is the best start for a Crimson Wave softball team in its history. The ladies opened the week sweeping Mount Ida College 11-0 and 12-2. Three days later the ladies took on Newbury College and fell short in game 6-3 but revenged themselves 13-0 in game two. Simmons College brought another split for the Wave, again being defeated in game one 9-3 and taking the win in game two 7-1.
Pitcher Stephanie Zimny returned home 2-0 with 21 strikeouts and a .286 batting average. Ana Liptack is 1-1 with 19 strikeouts. Catcher/Third Baseman Penny Bensinger slugged two homeruns throughout the week with 8 RBI’s. Angela Malinowski currently leads the team in stolen bases with five, while Aubrey Wiersema is the current leader in batting average with .474 going 9-16 on the week.
The ladies will take on conference opponent Judson University today at 4:00 pm in Elgin, IL.
(3/14/08)Baseball Improves Record to 6-1
The Crimson Wave baseball team returned home from the Russ Mat Invitational this weekend in Orlando, Fl. The men returned home 3-1 after splitting with Becker College 9-11 and 12-5. The men swept Elms College 9-1 and 8-7. Brett Summers had 10 strike outs and took the win in game one against Elms College. (3/7/08)Rainbolt Finishes 11th
Crimson Wave track and field runner Mike Rainbolt ended his indoor season finishing 11th overall in the 800 meter run. Mike ran a 1:57:81 at the NAIA Indoor National Championship Meet. Mike was the first Crimson Wave Track and Field Runner to qualifier for the National Meet.
(3/1/08)Men Finish Indoor Season Strong
The Crimson Wave track and field team competed at the Fred Wilt Memorial Invitational this past weekend. Mike Rainbolt and Raymond Green finished one, two in the 800 meter run. The winning time for Rainbolt was 1:59.17. This meet was the final regular season indoor meet for the Crimson Wave track team. Mike Rainbolt will head to the NAIA Indoor National Track meet on March 6-8 in Johnson City, TN.
