Crimson Wave Volleyball9/18/12 -
The Crimson Wave women's volleyball team took their first conference win of the season last night in Laporte, IN as they beat the Purdue University North Central Panthers 3-2. The Crimson Wave are now 7-12 overall and 1-2 in the CCAC.

In game one the Crimson Wave took the Panthers to extra points as they lost 27-25. In game two the Crimson Wave again fell short taking the loss 25-18.

The momentum shifted in game three as the Crimson Wave jumped out to a 10-4 lead. The ladies took control midway through the game on three straight kills from Danielle Burge, Brandy Sechrist and Kelsey McFarlane to take 17-10 lead. McFarlane ended game three for CCSJ with a kill to take the win 25-18.

In game four the momentum slowed but a 25-22 Crimson Wave win sent the match into the fifth set. In game five CCSJ took a 2-0 lead to start the set. Back to back PNC errors gave the ladies an 8-6 lead as they switched sides of the court. With back to back McFarlane kills and a PNC error CCSJ took a 15-11 win.

McFarlane ended the night with 22 kills with Sechrist grabbing 13 and Gabriela Mendonca taking 11. Kacey Amendola had 40 assists with Burge digging 26.

"It was a great conference win for us. We started off a bit shaky but we started off strong in game three. The girls faught hard and didn't lose focus. They were determined to win." Said Head Coach Stephanie Zimny

The Crimson Wave will be back in action on Thursday September 20th as they host CCAC opponent and cross town rival Purdue University Calumet at 7:00 pm.
