Crimson Wave head cross country and track and field coach Kevin Paterson has announced the signing of Lowell High School standout Brendon Shanks to a national letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic careers at Calumet College of St Joseph. Brendon will have the opportunity to play a big part at the conference and national level in the 400 meter hurdles and as a part of a very talented 4x400 meter relay next year.
Brendon is the defending sectional and regional champion in the 300 meter hurdles and his PR of 38.80 seconds is rank 6th in the state of Indiana. Brendon also anchored Lowell’s state qualifying 4x400 meter relay his junior year. Brendon will major in criminal justice while attending Calumet College of St Joseph.
Coach Paterson on Brendon “Brendon brings so much to the table as an athlete so having the opportunity to sign a top level recruit like him is so important for the development of this young program. He is a leader on and off the field at Lowell and I expect Brendon to do the same at CCSJ and lead by example. I look forward to the opportunity of coaching Brendon for the next 4 years I have some very big goals for him that include becoming an all-American at the NAIA level.”
