Crimson Wave men’s basketball has announced the signing of Justin Pennington as a member of the 2013-2014 recruiting class. The 6-4 guard from Hobart, IN comes to Calumet College of Saint Joseph after a successful basketball and football career at River Forest High School.

Pennington piled up a number of accomplishments on the hardwood throughout his four year varsity career. He was a three time All-Conference player in the Greater South Shore Athletic Conference, a two time All-Area performer, and was named MVP of the River Forest basketball program in his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. Statistically Pennington’s best year came this past season when he averaged 19 points and 8 rebounds per game.

As starting quarterback for the Ingots, Pennington was name to the NW Times and Post Tribune All-Area teams. His athleticism was on display at the Athletes Lives Network Combine as he was named the Most Outstanding Quarterback and the event.

“Our focus this year in recruiting was to bring in tough, hardnosed players that want to compete,” said Crimson Wave Head Coach Ryan Sexson. “Justin fits right in to that mold. He is a big strong kid that has a variety of skills on the basketball court. He has a nice mid-range jumper and goes to the boards extremely hard. He plays with an edge which can be attributed to his time on the football field. Justin has a chance to help us in a number of ways this season.”

Pennington plans on taking advantage of the variety of courses available at CCSJ before deciding on a major.
