The Crimson Wave men’s soccer team is proud to announce the signing of Deng Mabur for the 2014-2015 recruiting class. Deng will be joining the Crimson Wave after two successful seasons at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland. “I chose Calumet College because of its commitment on quality education and because of the professors who care about the students,” said Deng on coming to CCSJ. Deng went on to add “I am looking forward to winning and having a team that the conference will fear. My goal is to get a bachelor degree on media arts while and win a conference championship.”
At 6’0 165lbs, Deng was a defensive player for AACC that received 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-Region defensive honors. Deng was also Captain during his second season at Anne Arundel.
Deng is originally from Khartoum, Sudan. “I was born and raised in Khartoum, Sudan. At a very young age I travelled to Romania for three years to play in Steaua Bucharest Academy. Later, I returned to Sudan to study high school. At the age of 17, I travelled to the United States to search for better opportunities both athletically and academically,” said Deng.
“We are really excited to have Deng join our group. He does a great job of keeping the game simple and distributes the ball out of the back well. Deng is a strong player and we are looking for him to come in and compete with the current group we have. Deng is joining a great core group of players in the back and will be a big part of our plans moving forward,” said Coach Olson.
While attending CCSJ, Deng will major in Media Arts.
