Uzubell Commits to CCSJ
5/24/12 – Crimson Wave head men’s soccer coach Justin Olson has announced the signing of Lake Central High School soccer star Kyle Uzubell to a national letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic careers at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Uzubell will come to CCSJ to earn a degree in Computer Information Systems. Kyle decided on Calumet because of the small school environment and staying close to home. “Coach Olson is not afraid to be himself. He can definitely relate to the young guys” Said Uzubell who is excited for his new head coach and the direction of the program. While at Lake Central High School Uzubell was named Duneland All-Conference in 2011 and Post-Tribune Honorable Mention in both 2010 and 2011, he was also named Times Honorable Mention in 2011. Uzubell was part of Lake Central teams that won four sectional championships, two regional championships and two semi-state championships. Kyle also played for Millennium Vardar Soccer Club.
“Kyle is a player we identified very early on in the year. Coach Haring had referred him to me as a player to look out for. I was able to attend a few games and was sold almost immediately. Kyle has one of the best attitudes I have ever came across in a student athlete. I am hoping his willingness to put the team first will be contagious. I am expecting Kyle to come in and contribute right away. He brings a lot of great leadership qualities. . Kyle has a great ability to read the game and makes smart soccer decisions. He has great ball distribution and can drop his laces on the ball when he needs to. Kyle comes from strong high school and club programs and is definitely ready for the next step of playing collegiate soccer. Perez Commits to CCSJ
5/24/12 – Crimson Wave head men’s soccer coach Justin Olson has announced the signing of Lake Central High School soccer star Bryan Perez to a national letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic careers at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Perez will come to CCSJ to study Business Management. Bryan likes the small school environment and the one on one attention he will receive in the classroom. “I felt a connection right away. I appreciate Coach Olson’s approach” said Perez. Bryan was a Pride, Hustle and Desire Award winner while at Lake Central.
"Bryan had reached out to us a few weeks ago. We were approaching the end of our Spring season and I invited him out to a few training sessions. Bryan shows confidence with the ball and makes it look easy. His teammates at Lake Central called him "the Energizer Bunny" and he held up that nickname by showing a lot of hustle during his tryouts. He seems like a kid that always has a smile on his face and loves the game of soccer. Bryan is going to bring a lot of energy to our team and add depth to our attack. I am very excited to further developing Bryan into a very good college soccer player.” Said Coach Olson on Bryan Perez
Biggerstaff Inks with Volleyball
5/21/12 – Crimson Wave head volleyball coach Stephanie Zimny has announced the signing of Luther East High School volleyball star Jessica Anne Biggerstaff to a national letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Biggerstaff is a form club player of both Altitude and Dunes Volleyball Clubs and spent her first two seasons of collegiate volleyball playing for South Suburban Community College. Biggerstaff will bring a lot of court awareness and experience to CCSJ next season. Jessica will be an instant leader and help the team on and off the court. While at CCSJ, Biggerstaff will major in Forensic Science.

Jerman Signs with Softball
5/15/12 – Crimson Wave head softball coach Stephanie Zimny has announced the signing of Minooka High School softball standout Ashley Jerman to a national letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Ashley is a second baseman from the Dirt Devils Softball 18 and under Elite softball program. While with the Dirt Devils Jerman was named World Series MVP twice and named MVP of season tournaments many times. Jerman will major in media and fine arts while attending CCSJ. Ashley’s hard work ethic will bring excitement to both offensive and defense for the Crimson Wave.
“I am very excited to add Ashley to our team. She will help us out on both offense and defense at second base. Her experience and her great attitude will not only benefit her, but help to push others on the team.” Said Coach Zimny on Ashley Jerman
Lake Central’s Zimmer Signs with CCSJ
4/25/12 – Crimson Wave head men’s soccer coach Justin Olson has announced the signing of Lake Central High School soccer standout Brian Zimmer to a national letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic careers at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
“Brian had one of the best work ethics on the team both in the classroom and on the soccer field. I am going to miss Brian’s leadership and I hope the young guys on my team learned something from Brian Zimmer.” Said Lake Central Head Coach Jeremy Rainwater
Zimmer comes to CCSJ to study business management. Brian liked the family atmosphere of CCSJ and particularly enjoyed having future teammates take the campus tour with him.
“I first discovered Brian when I sat in one of Club Vardar’s training sessions. A few weeks later, I went to their showcase and I was sold after watching his first scrimmage. Brian exemplifies the type of work ethic that every coach wants to see. His high school and club coaches agree that he is one of the hardest working players on their squads. Brian comes from an extremely successful high school program in Lake Central and is a state champion. Brian is a crafty player and plays the game of soccer with everything he has. He really works well within the midfield to get the ball forward. Brian brings the desire to win at CCSJ and our team is going to benefit from that. We are all very excited to have Brian join the Crimson Wave.” Said Head Coach Justin Olson
Relinski Commits to CCSJ
4/17/12 – Crimson Wave head men’s soccer coach Justin Olson has announced the signing of Crown Point High School soccer standout Dan Relinski to a national letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic careers at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Relinski was unsure if he was headed to college or not until Coach Olson called and the want to play soccer made it an easy choice and Calumet College of St. Joseph was the place for him. Relinski will bring experience and a creative mind to the Crimson Wave offense. While at Crown Point High School Relinski was named to the DAC All-Conference Team his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Also in his senior season, Relinski was named All-State First team. Relinski will major in exercise science.
“Dan instantly makes our attack better. He has a great understanding for the game of soccer. Dan enables us to be very creative within our attack and brings savviness to our offense. He is also a very tough player and comes from a strong soccer program at Crown Point High School. I expect Dan to have a great four year career here at CCSJ. He is another great addition to our 2012 class. I am very excited to have him on our squad.” Said Head Coach Olson
Soccer Inks Portage’s Cole
4/11/12 – Crimson Wave head men’s soccer coach Justin Olson has announced the signing of Portage High School soccer star Donovan Cole to a national letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic careers at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Cole was a first team All-District Player his sophomore year followed by All-District, All-Conference and Second Team All-State his junior year. The midfielder capped his exciting high school career by a second appearance as Second Team All-State along with being chosen to play in the All-American game held in Alabama. Cole will bring a lot of excitement and experience to the midfield for the Crimson Wave over the next four seasons and give Coach Olson a core to build around. Cole will major in athletic training.
“I don't know any coach that wouldn't want a player like Donovan Cole on their roster. He is one of the most gifted soccer player's to come out of northwest Indiana and is a scholar in the classroom. I had numerous conversations with the Cole family in their home and CCSJ is where Donovan informed me he wanted to join the Crimson Wave Men's Soccer Team. Donovan is a very unselfish player with a lot of ability. His field awareness and ability to put the ball wherever he wants really stood out to me while watching him play. His shot is very dangerous and is a team leader. Donovan is the type of player that I feel comfortable to build around in the midfield and take our program to the next level. I am honored to have Donovan Cole a part of our soccer team.” Said Coach Olson on Cole.
Justin Turner Signs with Men’s Soccer
3/22/12 – Crimson Wave head men’s soccer coach Justin Olson has announced the signing of Griffith High School standout Justin Turner to a national letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic careers at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Turner, who was named Second Team All-Conference his Junior and Senior seasons in the Northwest Crossroads Conference will bring a tough defensive mind to the Crimson Wave. Turner is a an aggressive defender that will help build a foundation for CCSJ. Turner will study Accounting and Business while attending Calumet.

Having Justin come in really provides our defense with some great depth and ability. Olvera Inks With Crimson Wave
3/22/12 – Crimson Wave head men’s soccer coach Justin Olson has announced the signing of Wayland Academy Central Midfielder Philip Olvera to a national letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic careers at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Olvera who will study Criminal Justice while attending CCSJ was named second team All-Conference his Junior season and All-Conference Honorable Mention his senior season. Olvera will bring a lot of depth to the Crimson Wave this season using his experience and strength in the midfield.
