About Amanda:
Amanda Blackwell majored in English and minored in History at Calumet College of Saint Joseph. Amanda came to us from Whiting High School, after spending her freshman year of college at Aurora University. While at Calumet College, she was a part of the Softball team and St. Gasper’s Honor Society. In her spare time, she tutored at Whiting High School, where she helped students with their studies.

About Amy:
Amy Gasiorowski majored in Life Science Pre-Professional Studies and also played on the Women’s Soccer team as the goal keeper. After graduating from Calumet College of St. Joseph’s, Amy is continuing with her plans to attend graduate school in Veterinarian Science to become a Veterinarian Technician. Amy served as an intern at a veterinary hospital to get experience in her career interest at Valparaiso Animal Hospital.

Taylor Young, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, went to Villa Angela at Joseph High School. Taylor joined the Student Government Association at Illinois Valley Community College. At CCSJ, he was a student athlete. Taylor majored in Business Management and minored in Computer Science.

About Glauber:
Glauber  garnered honors such as the St. Gaspar’s Honors Learning Community, along with an athletic scholarship for soccer and tennis. He speaks three languages: Portuguese, Spanish and English, and his professional interests focus on companies with sports affiliations–soccer, in particular.

About Angelique:
Angelique’s professional interests include banking, hotels, non-profit organizations benefiting children and dogs. Her interest in banking and hospitality management has instilled in Angelique a strong desire to participate in an organization that provides change and makes a difference in the community.

About Kali: Kali was serving as an intern at the East Chicago Police Department when she first learned about the EEON program. In 2015, she was recognized as Outstanding Student in Deviant Behavior and for being the Hardest Working Student in Scientific Criminal Investigation.  She currently is a member of the CCSJ softball team.  Before coming to our campus, Kali attended Junior College in Colorado.

Extracurricular Activities: Jalon has served as President of the CCSJ Black Student Union and is a Mentor.

About Jalon: Jalon’s professional interests lie in industrial design, production/marketing, sales/management, and media.  After her baccalaureate studies are completed on our campus, she plans to pursue a degree in Industrial Engineering, possibly at Purdue University in West Lafayette. One day she hopes to start a brand and create a positive     movement in order to better society.

About Allen: Allen’s professional interests include “big” data analysis, chemical engineering and medical research. Allen has served a tutor in the Student Success Center.  He is a member of the track-and-field and cross-country teams at CCSJ.  At school, Allen did undergraduate research in theoretical and applied spectroscopy.

Extracurricular Activities: Danielle runs cross country, and also is a member of the Track and Field team.

Professional Interests: Danielle wants to become either a school counselor, or go into social working. She mainly wants to deal with children, helping them succeed in their lives.

Additional Information: Danielle is a student athlete and is currently interning at Washington Elementary as a mentor/tutor for communities in schools of Lake County.

Extracurricular Activities: Mariana is a member of St. Gaspar’s Honors Learning Community and President of the CCSJ Glee Club. She also is on the President’s List and is a member of the Rowing Club.  Much of her volunteer experience is with non-profit organizations that protect, help and rescue animals.

About Mariana:
Mariana volunteers as a tutor. She received both a Trustee Scholarship for Academic Achievement and an athletic scholarship for tennis. Mariana has participated in the Neuroscience Initiative to Enhance Diversity program at UC Davis and also presented a research poster at the Chicago Area Undergraduate Research Symposium (CAURS).




Luke Matulewicz

Extracurricular Activities:  Luke is the Student Body President for his second year and a member of the St. Gaspar’s Honor Learning Community. Luke has a strong passion with Science Olympiad and volunteers much of his time with the nationwide organization by helping the Whiting High School team and running numerous events at local tournaments.

About Luke: Luke Matulewicz is a Whiting native. He graduated with honors from Whiting High School in 2013. He is entering his senior year at Calumet College of St. Joseph in Hammond, where he is majoring in psychology with plans to attend graduate school for a Masters in Statistics. While at Calumet College of St. Joseph, Luke has been on the President’s list for the third consecutive semester. During his free time, Luke likes to travel. He has now been to Europe on three different trips, visiting eight countries, and over 15 cities. Some of his main goals include give a TED Talk, obtaining a Ph.D., and shaking hands with the President of the United States. Luke is still not sure what career he wants; however, he is not worried, just excited to see where life will take him.
