Prof. Delinck
About Me
Betty Delinck was born and raised in Whiting, Indiana where she and her husband, Frank, still reside. Now that their three children are on their own, Delinck devotes more time to her painting career. Although she still loves to paint in oil and acrylic, Delinck became “hooked” on watercolors several years ago. “I love the way one can go from a deep color and gradually wisp it out to nothingness.” Delinck maintains that always having pets in the house influenced her love of animals which can be found in most of her works. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Indiana, with a Fine Arts Degree, Delinck began teaching elementary art for many years. With a Master’s Degree from Governor’s State University in Illinois, she now teaches studio courses at Calumet College of St. Joseph and is currently their Artist-in-Residence. Taking workshops from the Art Institute of Chicago and from numerous renowned instructors expanded her art background. Delinck has won many awards for her works including several Best of Shows. She has exhibited extensively throughout the Midwest, including Chicago IL, Ellison Bay WI, New Buffalo MI, and many galleries in Indiana. Her work can be found in private collections nation wide and international wide. Introduction to Design and Careers:
This introductory course exposes students to a variety of art materials and techniques through an exploration of right-brain activities and the fundamentals of two and three dimensional design. Topics include: unity, balance, rhythm; line, form, color; focal point and illusion of space. Students apply design principles to the interpretation, analysis and critique of artworks. Students also learn about career opportunities and resources.

Advanced Design:
This course is a continuation of MFA 110. Students will explore the design elements further and create more complicated and innovative designs. The course may be repeated for a maximum of nine hours.

Techniques include wet in wet, dry brush, graded wash, hard edges, soft edges, and many other techniques using everyday objects such as sponges, tissues and razor blades. Students apply the techniques to create mood, develop form, and learn to analyze their own works and the works of other students.
