Federal Grants and Loans

The United States Department of Education oversees the administration of the federal financial aid system. It is through the completion of the FAFSA that you will become eligible for consideration for federal financial aid. The Calumet College of St. Joseph Office of Financial Aid will package any federal grants and loans for which you qualify. Below is a list of the various types of federal grant and loan programs.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) 1st and 2nd year full-time undergraduate degree seeking students who are U.S. citizens, Pell Grant recipients and
recent high school graduates. Students must have completed a rigorous high-school program of study and second year students must have a college 3.0 GPA

2nd year $1300

Pell Grant Financial need and U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Up to $5,550
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Financial need and U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Variable
Federal Work Study Financial need and U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Varies according to amount of demonstrated need.

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART)

3rd and 4th year full-time undergraduate students seeking a four-year degree in science, engineering, technology, math or certain designated foreign languages. Students must be U.S. citizens, Pell Grant
recipients, and have at least a 3.0 GPA in their college major
