Professional work experience is often a big step towards entering the career of your choice. Many students maintain jobs while attending Calumet College of St. Joseph. Working at a job outside of the College does not directly affect your financial aid package, though it will be considered by the federal government when calculating your EFC (expected family contribution) once you have completed the FAFSA. The Federal Work Study Program, should you qualify and wish to participate, does become part of your financial aid package. FWS jobs are on-campus positions subsidized by the federal government based on your financial need. Examples of federal work study jobs might include working in the CCSJ library as an assistant or helping the CCSJ Registrar’s Office with clerical duties. There are also off-campus positions available in the community service area. The number of federal work study positions is limited. Contact the Office of Financial Aid if you are interested and think you might qualify. If you do not qualify for federal work study or there are no positions available, the Career Services Office can assist you with finding a position off-campus. |
