Federal Grants and Loans

 

The United States Department of Education oversees the administration of the federal financial aid system. It is through the completion of the FAFSA that you will become eligible for consideration for federal financial aid. The Calumet College of St. Joseph Office of Financial Aid will package any federal grants and loans for which you qualify. Below is a list of the various types of federal grant and loan programs.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

Exceptional financial need and U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.

Award amount varies up to $500 annually

Completion of the FAFSA and all required documents

Federal Work Study

Financial need and U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.

Award amount varies up to $5,440 annually according to amount of demonstrated need.

Federa Parent PLUS Loan

Non-need based (Student must be an undergraduate)

Cannot exceed cost of attendance once other forms of financial aid have been applied.

Completion of the FAFSA, all required documents, Parent PLUS Loan Application, Consent to Obtain Credit Form, and Master Promissory Note

*Federal Subsidized and Unsubsidized loan amounts are limited to annual and aggregate maximums based on the student’s year in school and amount of loans previously accepted.
