Calumet College of St. Joseph College Bound Scholarship
Calumet College of St. Joseph is proud to introduce the CCSJ College Bound Scholarship, which will be applied in conjunction with the City of Hammond’s College Bound scholarship program.
Calumet College of St. Joseph was founded by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood to provide access to education to families in Northwest Indiana. Our founders recognized that education changes lives. The CCSJ College Bound Scholarship will provide access to education by offering the choice of an education at a private institution of higher learning to those who qualify for the City of Hammond’s College Bound scholarship.
Hammond’s program was launched in 2006 with three goals in mind: to make education a priority, to increase home ownership, and to improve the City’s overall quality of life. The program currently provides a scholarship of up to $9,100 for high school students who meet certain grade point average and residency requirements. While this amount represents a “full-ride” at many public institutions, it does not cover the full cost of tuition at any private institution of higher learning.
To defray this additional cost, Calumet College of St. Joseph will offer the CCSJ College Bound Scholarship to full-time students. CCSJ will defray the balance of the school’s tuition cost for Hammond residents who qualify for the Hammond College Bound Scholarship. Like the City of Hammond’s program, all other awards, scholarships and financial aid will be applied first. Once both the City of Hammond and the CCSJ College Bound Scholarships have been applied, the student will incur no additional tuition expense while attending Calumet College of St. Joseph.
We are proud to partner with Mayor Thomas McDermott, Jr. and the City of Hammond to cover the full tuition cost of a private higher education for the sons and daughters of our neighbors. We know, as our founders did, that education truly changes lives, and with it, the quality of life of the surrounding community.
