National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)
What is the NSSE?
The NSSE is a large-scale, well-respected survey tool that is administered by a third-party survey organization on behalf of CCSJ. The NSSE assesses first- and fourth-year student participation and engagement in educationally effective activities.
Over 1,400 North American universities and colleges, and two million students have participated in the NSSE since its first administration in 2000. CCSJ has been participating in NSSE sine 2003.
Why complete the NSSE?
It is important for you to know that your voice counts and will be acted on. The NSSE results provide information that faculty, staff and others can use immediately to improve the undergraduate experience; results reveal:
Progress made to date, based on previous NSSE input
Areas that are working well, confirming where investments of resources are worthwhile
Areas that can be improved, shaping plans for measurable improvements
CCSJ is committed to using the NSSE results, to continue shaping an environment of excellence for learning and personal development of undergraduate students.
What can I contribute?
For first-year students, your input about your experience as a new student at CCSJ will shape and advance future CCSJ educational programming and activities.
For fourth-year students, your feedback will leave a lasting mark on CCSJ to affect and improve the undergraduate experience, as your predecessors did for you.
Let Your Voice
How can I participate?
First- and fourth-year students were recently sent an email invitation from NSSE.
Please check your CCSJ email!
You can complete the survey by opening the email, clicking on the survey link and following the log in instructions.
E-mail requests were sent out on February 12 and must be completed by May 1.
Questions will address your academic and overall experience at CCSJ
Survey completion is expected to take about 15 minutes
No individually identifiable responses will be shared, only group results will be reported
Our results will arrive in August 2013 and be shared next fall semester
In appreciation for participating, we will enter all first-year and senior students who complete the survey by May 1st into a drawing for 1 of 4 CCSJ Bookstore gift cards worth $75 each.
Two winners will be selected from the pool of eligible first-year
respondents and two winners will be selected from the pool of
eligible senior respondents. Based on NSSE 2011 results, the
odds of winning for a first-year student is approximately 3% and
the odds of winning for a senior student is approximately 4%.
