Library Gift Policy

Since its founding, Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ) has benefited from gifts of materials to Specker Memorial Library. The Library welcomes gifts that fall within the scope of its collecting activities and which support the College's academic programs. Of particular interest are scholarly or rare items with research value that are in good physical condition.

Gifts of Money

Funds for Library purposes are always welcome. Information on making contributions to the Library, establishing endowment and naming opportunities may be obtained from the CCSJ Development Office, in consultation with the Director of Specker Memorial Library.

Gifts of Materials

The procedures of donating materials to the library: Books, DVD/Videos

Intended donors of materials to the Specker Library should first contact the Library staff at 219-473-4373 or email to library@ccsj.edu to inquire and discuss about the donation. After that, they should send a list of books/DVDs/video’s to Library Director Dr. Qi Chen via email at qchen@ccsj.edu or via US mail to Dr. Qi Chen, Specker Library, Calumet College of St. Joseph, 2400 New York Ave. Whiting, IN 46394 for reviewing. The donor should also indicate on the list the status of the materials, if they are in good or fair condition.

Upon receiving the list, the Director will review each item and select the materials that fit our curriculum and programs. The Director will then contact the donor. The donor will then either bring or ship the selected materials to the Library.

The College Library does not accept magazines or newspapers or any other materials that not related to our curriculum and instruction such as toys or decorations, etc.

Once the materials are accepted by the Library, the Library will become the owner of the materials and determine how to use them to best serve the College.
