Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ) welcomes veterans and is committed to making the transition to college as smooth and stress free as possible. Whether you are a new student who has completed your service, a student who interrupted your education to serve and are now returning, or a student who began your studies elsewhere and are transferring here, we will help guide you to the resources you need to make the most of your college experience.
Yellow Ribbon Program
CCSJ is proud to be a Yellow Ribbon participant for a 3rd year and to assist students using the G.I. Bill to help make their higher education more affordable. The Yellow Ribbon program is designed to help students avoid up to 100 percent of their out-of-pocket tuition and fees associated with education programs that may exceed the Post 9/11 GI Bill tuition benefit.
You must be admitted as a student at CCSJ before the VA Certifying Official in the Office of the Registrar can process your VA paperwork. You will provide the Office of Admissions with your DD-214 to receive your military credit and your college transcripts of all work completed at other schools.
If you have not yet received your Certificate of Eligibility, complete an Application for VA Educational benefits here. Be sure to print your completed application to bring to the CCSJ Registrar's Office in Room 119.
Your classes will not take place in a big lecture hall and won’t be taught by a teacher’s assistant. CCSJ has a student to faculty ratio of 15:1. Our faculty bring years of working experience into the classroom to share with you. Do you have scheduling conflicts due to work? We have day, evening, and weekend classes available for our working students. Diversity is our mission. We are one of the most diverse institutions in the Midwest, according to U.S. News and World Reports. You get the opportunity of learning in a diverse setting as well as learning about different cultures while at CCSJ. Because private college doesn’t have to be unattainable due to cost. We offer the lowest tuition for any private four-year college in the State of Indiana. Students from other states do not pay out of state tuition. At least 90% of our students receive some form of financial aid.
We are building tradition one sport at a time. CCSJ athletics has received local, regional, national recognition for its athletic programs as well as for our scholar-athletes. We are a member of the NAIA and the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. We have had the Coach of the Year, Player of the Year, and Freshman of the Year in the CCAC within the last five years for Men’s basketball as well as National Qualifiers in Men’s and Women’s Bowling and Men’s Track and Field. Our student-athletes Ride the Tide of Crimson Wave Pride! The opportunity to intern in your field of study. Our students have been placed in over 200 different locations for internships. Our students even interned at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado!
A long standing history of educating the Calumet region in the Catholic tradition.
