The One Earth Film Festival (OEFF)–the Midwest’s premier environmental film festival–returns to Calumet College of St. Joseph for the third time.
This year’s presentation is the film, “2040: The Regeneration.” Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the film begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, in Room 200. Admission is free, but donations to support the festival are appreciated.
“2040: The Regeneration” is a documentary-style film that examines what the future would look like if everyone fully embraced the environmental solutions that already exist today. The concept is inspired by a family that wonders what the world and the environment will be like when their daughter grows up.
The film is Australian director Damon Gameau’s follow-up to his 2014 surprise box-office hit documentary, “That Sugar Film,” which explored the crippling effects of a sugar-filled diet.
In honor of the OEFF and the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, CCSJ is spearheading an action project that will clean up nearby wetlands.
The Hammond Port Authority granted permission for students to clean up the perimeter of George Lake, located directly behind the college’s campus. The clean up project is scheduled for the morning of Friday, April 24, 2020. All volunteers are welcome and necessary supplies will be provided. CCSJ will also provide lunch for all volunteers.
Both CCSJ President Dr. McCormack and the Director of Public Relations and Communications Linda Gajewski believe this is a great way to give back to the local community.
If you’d like to participate, contact Linda Gajewski at email@example.com for more details.
Our mission is to report the college news in a balanced way, give students practice in the fields of journalism and newspaper design, and to provide a forum to help build a strong college community.
