Community Events

Whiting Christmas Parade – Friday, Dec. 1st – 7:00 pm – 119th St.

Come join the CCSJ family as we participate in the Christmas parade! Bring your club, team, department, family, and friends and have some fun! Meet at 6:30 pm at Clark High School (119th St. & Davis Avenue). The parade begins at 7:00 pm and will progress down 119th St. to New York Avenue. Afterwards Santa will light the City of Whiting tree in front of city hall. Come out and get in the Christmas spirit and also represent the Wave!

Holiday Pops Concert – Saturday, Dec. 2 – 7:30 pm – Marian Auditorium – St. John the Baptist School – 1944 Lincoln Avenue

The Whiting Park Festival Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Robert Vodnoy will play some of your old favorite Christmas songs and surprise you with some wonderful new favorites! Tickets at the door are $15. For more information, contact the Chamber at 659-0292.

Whiting Small Town Christmas – Saturday, Dec. 9th 10:00 – 3:00 – 119th St.

Lots to do and here’s the list!

Pictures with Santa! Cost is $10 and you’ll get a printed copy of your photo as well as having it emailed to you. Pets are also welcome but must be leashed.

Breakfast with Mrs. Claus (10:00 – 1:00). Winey Beach Cafe. Cost is $10 and you will need reservations for this popular event. You’ll get a great breakfast and your photo with Mrs. Claus. Call 659-1466 to make reservations.

Stop by City Hall and say hello to the live reindeer!

Hot Cocoa/Cider Tour takes place at participating businesses. Tickets are $3 and can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office.

Throughout the day enjoy the 119th St. Carolers who will walking through town serenading visitors.

A great time for the family to get into the spirit or for you to actually enjoy doing some Christmas shopping!

CCSJ Day at the Art Institute of Chicago – 10:30-4:00

Skip the line and register at the CCSJ registration table in the Art Institute’s Modern Wing Lobby, located at 159 E. Monroe Street anytime between 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. You must show your CCSJ ID to receive tickets for you and your guests.

You will receive:

*Complementary admission for you, your family, and guests

*10% discount at the museum’s shops and cafe’

*10% discount on a new membership of less than $190

*Full day of family programs in the Ryan Learning Center
