Tutors will help students build high level study skills that position them for academic success within a variety of degree\/program areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate subject matter expertise and proficiency in high demand areas, currently: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>College-level math<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Science <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>English\/Writing.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provides academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually;<\/li>\n<li>Liaises with instructors and works under the instructor&#8217;s direction to assist students;<\/li>\n<li>Helps students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying and helps students develop a high level of motivation in academic areas;<\/li>\n<li>Assists students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas;<\/li>\n<li>Helps students refine the study skills necessary for academic success;<\/li>\n<li>Establishes and maintains rapport with the assigned students;<\/li>\n<li>Schedules tutoring appointments, oversees check-ins and -outs, maintains session notes and assessment data for each interaction;<\/li>\n<li>Utilizes the college\u2019s center management system (Accudemia) to maintains records on all students receiving support including follow-up interactions and regular assessment practices;<\/li>\n<li>Provides evaluations and other reports as required by center management;<\/li>\n<li>Participates in professional development and training to increase competency in working with students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications\/Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree from a regionally accredited college\/university<\/li>\n<li>Prior experience in teaching or tutoring (at any level) or providing learning assistance support highly desirable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications\/Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Commitment to and experience in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to interact and effectively communicate with persons of all educational levels and backgrounds in a structured team environment;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to provide services in a courteous and professional manner;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to tutor others in one or more academic disciplines;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to keep detailed and accurate records and to extract data from such records in various formats.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\nCurrent CV\/resume and cover letter[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;40px&#8221; alter_height=&#8221;none&#8221; hide_on_mobile=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_btn title=&#8221;Apply Now&#8221; style=&#8221;outline&#8221; shape=&#8221;square&#8221; color=&#8221;black&#8221; i_align=&#8221;right&#8221; i_icon_fontawesome=&#8221;fas fa-caret-right&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;none&#8221; add_icon=&#8221;true&#8221; el_class=&#8221;ccsj-secondary-button&#8221; link=&#8221;url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ccsj.edu%2Fmore%2Femployment%2Fapplication-for-employment%2F|title:Application%20for%20Employment&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221; alter_height=&#8221;none&#8221; hide_on_mobile=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_separator color=&#8221;black&#8221; align=&#8221;align_left&#8221; el_width=&#8221;10&#8243;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221; alter_height=&#8221;none&#8221; hide_on_mobile=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text]<em>CCSJ is an equal opportunity employer and encourages candidates of typically underrepresented groups to apply.
