Position Summary:

The Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ) English & Media Communications Program seeks applicants to fill available adjunct faculty positions for Spring 2023 semester. We are looking for adjunct faculty to teach EMCO 150: Public Speaking. This course helps develop the students’ ability to speak confidently and effectively in a variety of public speaking situations. Students will learn and employ elements of classical rhetoric while preparing and presenting several different types of speeches utilizing a variety of media. Particular attention is paid to balancing adequate content with effective delivery. To successfully complete the course, students must demonstrate basic competency in oral communication.

Opportunities to teach other courses in the English & Media Communications program and in the college’s general education curriculum may be available in current or future semesters, depending on qualifications. Additional optional work as a writing tutor in the Student Success Center may also be available.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

To qualify for these assignments, candidates must have a minimum of a master’s degree in the content area (Communications, English, Literature, Composition and Rhetoric, et al.). A terminal degree is preferred. Adjunct faculty may teach up to three sections per semester.
