Enjoy a Self-Guided Tour
Welcome, Calumet College families! Today is a day of joy, pride, and reflection. After your graduate crosses the stage, we invite you to walk in their footsteps. Take a stroll through campus with this self-guided tour and experience the spaces that shaped your graduate’s journey. These walls have seen hard work, laughter, creativity, and community—and now, they welcome you.
1.
Katsahnias Student Commons: Where Student Life Comes Alive
Start your tour where it all begins: at the heart of student life. The Commons is where friendships formed over coffee, club meetings sparked new passions, and campus events brought everyone together. This space is more than a lounge, it’s the pulse of CCSJ’s vibrant community.
Photo Tip: Great spot for a family picture under the Calumet College step-and-repeat!
2.
Specker Memorial Library: Four Floors of Focus and Discovery
With over 70,000 books and four stories of knowledge, the Library is where late-night study sessions and early morning cram marathons happen. Students found focus here, surrounded by stacks of research, quiet reading nooks, and inspiration from every corner.
Fun fact: The main campus building was donated by Standard Oil to Calumet College of St. Joseph in 1973.
3.
Meyers Family Study Buddy Lounge: Where Connections Are Made
Just upstairs, you’ll find the Meyers Family Study Buddy Lounge. Equal parts chill zone, lunch spot, and social hub. In between classes, students gathered here to relax, recharge, and reconnect. If these walls could talk, they’d have plenty of stories to share.
Ask your graduate about their favorite memory on each floor!
4.
Bernard Gallery & Barbara Goodman Theatre: Where Creativity Takes Center Stage
Art lives here. Whether it’s student paintings in the Bernard Gallery or unforgettable performances in the Goodman Theatre, this is where CCSJ students dared to dream out loud. Each piece, each show, is a testament to the imagination and talent that thrives here.
Check out the current Earth Day exhibit!
5.
3rd Floor Mural: A Hidden Gem with a Mission
As you make your way to the third floor, prepare to be transported. The jungle mural, painted by student alumni, honors a life-changing mission trip to Guatemala. Look closely! can you find the hidden faces of the artists woven into the leaves and vines?
This mural is more than paint: it’s purpose, perspective, and passion.
6.
Zen Den: Find the Calm
College life isn’t all go-go-go. The Zen Den is where students found stillness and self-care. This space reminded everyone to take a breath, pause and reset.
A favorite among students during finals week (and probably your graduate’s go-to, too).
7.
Bonus Stop: Ask Your Graduate to Show You “Their” Campus
While this tour covers many highlights, some of the most meaningful places are the quiet corners and classroom hallways that meant something special to your graduate. Ask them to show you where they studied, met their best friends or had their first “aha” moment.
Their journey here was personal; now you can walk it with them.
