Internship requirement

For many students looking to take their academic knowledge and apply it in real work situations, internships can be a great way for all students to gain valuable hands-on experience in their field, explore potential future career opportunities, and develop professional network connections.

The following programs require an internship prior to graduation:

  • Criminal Justice
  • Digital Art
  • Human Services
  • Kinesiology
  • Psychology
  • English, Writing, & Professional Communication/English & Media Communication

While these are the only programs that require an internship, Career Services is here to support students of all majors and degree programs who may be interested in internships as well.

Please speak with your Program Director or Career Advisor for more specifics about internships and specific requirements as they relate to your degree.

Job and Internship Searching

The Career Services Department at CCSJ has partnered with two new platforms to help students search for job and internship opportunities, connect with employers, and learn more about their chosen professions.

Handshake is a national platform for college students and alumni searching for their next opportunity. Along with searching for positions you can also schedule an appointment with your advisor, upload a resume or cover letter for review, and attend workshops and webinars about a variety of career topics.

Similar to Handshake, Ascend is another job and internship searching platform where you can search for new opportunities and connect with potential employers interested in hiring college students and alumni. Ascend specifically focuses on local, regional, and state opportunities throughout Indiana, to give you that more localized and personal connection.

Employer partners

The Career Services Department at Calumet College of St. Joseph is always looking to connect employer partners with qualified, quality CCSJ students and alumni.

A few of the ways we partner with Employers include:

  • Assisting companies in hiring for internships, part-time, and full-time positions
  • Hosting organizations and employers on campus for hiring events and job fairs
  • Inviting employer representatives to talk with students about their industries and professional pathways

If you are a company, organization, or business that would like to partner with CCSJ, please reach out to us at careerservices@ccsj.edu to discuss in more detail.
