HSI STEM Support
Access, Achievement and Assessment
Calumet College of St. Joseph is a proud recipient of the Department of Education-sponsored HSI-STEM grant.
According to a Pew Research report from April 2021, Hispanic people make up 17% of the total workforce, but only 8% of workers in STEM fields. As Indiana’s first Hispanic Serving Institution, CCSJ plays a pivotal role in bridging this gap.
The primary goal of the grant is to increase enrollment in STEM-related majors, with a focus on Hispanic and low-income students. The grant will fund several important initiatives, including outreach to area high schools and partnerships with local industries, resulting in career opportunities for graduates and additional student support services.
